Mass capturing close to England World Cup base in Kansas City leaves 9 injured

Nine individuals were wounded in a shooting close to England’s World Cup base in Kansas City, Missouri. Police were summoned to Troost Avenue shortly after 4am on Saturday following reports of gunshots.

The location sits a brief drive from the training facility and hotel where the England squad will be stationed during the tournament. Authorities confirmed that officers were deployed after shots rang out and arrived to discover a large crowd scattering.

Three women were wounded and rushed to hospital. The incident took place on Troost Avenue at approximately 4am on Saturday morning, near the England squad’s training headquarters at Swope Soccer Village, to the south east of the city.

The team’s accommodation is also nearby. The Argentinian side – the World Cup holders – and Dutch teams are also stationed in Kansas City. This follows England’s 1-0 victory over New Zealand in their opening warm-up match in Tampa.

They will face Costa Rica in Orlando on Wednesday, travelling to Kansas City on Saturday, June 13, where Harry Kane and the rest of the nation’s stars will remain for the duration of the tournament.
