A huge fire has broken out in Bermondsey, south-east London, with thick black smoke billowing above the Rotherhithe and Canada Water areas as 15 fire engines and around 100 firefighters tackle the blaze
A massive fire has erupted in Bermondsey, London, with dense black smoke billowing over the Rotherhithe and Canada Water areas.
The inferno, located on Landmann Way, has triggered a significant emergency response, with 15 fire engines and approximately 100 firefighters at the scene. The London Fire Brigade is urging the public to “please avoid the area while the incident is ongoing”.
The London Fire Brigade reported that the incident was first called in around 5.30pm, prompting crews from Deptford, Old Kent Road, Greenwich and nearby fire stations to rush to the scene.
As firefighters persist in battling the blaze, two of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders have been utilised, enabling crews to combat the fire from above.
