East London hotspot Cafe 1001 to rejoice 25 years with large birthday bash

Brick Lane favourite Cafe 1001 is celebrating 25 years with a huge birthday party, bringing top DJs, resident favourites and music lovers together for a special weekend

One of East London’s best-loved nightlife venues is gearing up for a massive birthday celebration as Cafe 1001 marks more than 25 years at the heart of Brick Lane’s music scene.

The iconic venue has announced a special two-day anniversary event taking place on August 28 and 29, bringing together DJs, artists, collaborators and long-time supporters for a weekend of music and celebrations.

Kicking things off on Friday August 28 will be a late-night party headlined by Charlie Dark MBE, the renowned DJ, producer, poet and co-founder of Attica Blues. A key figure in Britain’s underground music scene since the early 1990s, Charlie will be joined by long-time Cafe 1001 collaborator Chris Wheatley, with further acts still to be announced.

The celebrations continue the following day with an all-day takeover from Cafe 1001’s resident selectors. Music lovers can expect sets from Lucide, Gaby D’Annunzio, Hannah Lamb and Eman Pav, alongside the venue’s popular 1001 All-Stars.

Cafe 1001 Creative Director Luca Pilato said the anniversary is about recognising the people who have helped shape the venue over the last quarter of a century.

“Cafe 1001 is one of those venues that belongs to the people who use it and has always evolved,” he said.

“We’ve had first dates turn into marriages celebrated at our venue, staff members have become resident DJs, customers have become lifelong friends, and generations have passed through our doors.”

Luca added: “This 25th birthday weekend is a celebration of everyone who has made Cafe 1001 what it is. After taking our programming on tour around the UK, it felt right to bring it all back home to Brick Lane: The Homecoming.”

The anniversary comes after the venue completed a year-long European Hi-Fi Tour, connecting with music and audio-focused spaces across the continent. Throughout 2026, Cafe 1001 has been working alongside creative communities in Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Portugal and France.

Founded on Brick Lane more than 25 years ago, Cafe 1001 has become a cornerstone of London’s nightlife, helping nurture emerging DJs and artists while also welcoming internationally recognised talent.

Now, with a huge birthday party planned and a packed line-up of music on the cards, the venue is preparing to celebrate its biggest milestone yet with the community that helped build it.
