‘I’m a Luke Littler lookalike – booing followers ought to depart him alone’

A Luke Littler lookalike has blasted fans for booing the teenage darts sensation – insisting critics should “leave him alone”.

Paper manufacturer Ross Davidson, 33, from Northampton, launched an unexpected second career thanks to his striking resemblance to the young world champion. And he’s been left fuming by crowds who have turned on the 19-year-old sportsman. “I think it’s wrong, if I’m honest,” he told Daily Star Sport. “He’s a young kid, and people are doing that. It’s not hard to leave him alone, is it?”

Ross, who started his lookalike work when fans started to shout “Littler” at him in the street, added that he admires the Warrington teenager’s work ethic and said fans need to remember how far he’s come since making his debut at just 16. He said: “He hasn’t really stopped. At his age, he’s doing a lot, and what he’s actually achieved is unreal.

“People always seem to pull out the bad things, but why can’t they look at the positives?”

Ross’ defence of Littler comes as the world champion has travelled to Germany for the World Cup of Darts, where hostile crowds have repeatedly targeted him. ‘The Nuke’, in return, threatened not to play events in the country.

That reaction then spread to the Premier League, with tensions coming to a head after the Warrington thrower’s clash with Gian van Veen in Manchester back in April.

However, the turn in popularity for Littler hasn’t affected Ross, who works in a paper manufacturing firm by day. He explained: “I wore the shirt about a month ago and had people shouting, ‘Luke, Luke, Littler, Luke, Luke,’ but nothing negative!”

Ross is still new to the lookalike world, joking he realised he could be pocketing some cash when people started stopping him for photos and autographs.

“I looked online, and they [Lookalike Agency] were the first ones that came up. I contacted [former David Beckham lookalike and agency owner] Andy [Harmer], and within a month, it all started happening.

“I just sent over some photos and a bit about myself. That was basically it.”

He explained. “I’d say I get offered around one booking a month… One was in Poole, one was in Manchester, and one was in Birmingham, so it’s a bit of everywhere really. It’s quite easy from there because I’m pretty central!”

Ross said his work is pretty good with the bookings “as long as I get a few weeks’ notice,” and they vary from social media events to parties – “a bit of everything”.

He joked he doesn’t see the resemblance himself and wasn’t really a darts fan before the meteoric rise of ‘The Nuke’ back at the 2024 World Darts Championship.

However, like much of Britain, he’s since been swept up by Littlermania, and says he is now “actually alright” at darts.

“There’s an event near where I live later in the year. Obviously, all the big stars are there, like Luke and Gerwyn Price. I’ll be there wearing the shirt and seeing what happens!”

And asked if he’d try and blag his way backstage, Ross smiled: “Yeah, yeah. Why not? We’ll see what happens!”

Number one seeds Littler and Luke Humphries defeated the Spanish pairing of Cristo Reyes and Jose Justicia 8-5 on Saturday to set up a quarter-final against Wales at the World Cup of Darts.

They will face seventh seeds Jonny Clayton and Nick Kenny on Sunday, after the Welsh duo beat the United States 8-5.
