‘Putney Pusher’ arrest after 9 years as banker accused of infamously pushing lady into bus

A multi-millionaire banker has been arrested in the hunt for the ‘Putney Pusher’ after a woman was allegedly shoved in front of a bus on Putney Bridge in south London in 2017

A banker connected to royalty has been arrested in the hunt for the “Putney Pusher.” The multi-millionaire suspect was arrested today at his lavish £1.4m mansion according to the MailOnline.

According to the publication, he is a director at a private bank and a decorated former British Army officer who served in several major conflicts. His arrest comes nearly 10 years after a jogger shoved a female pedestrian into the path of a double-decker bus on Putney Bridge.

The horror incident occurred at around 7.40am on 5 May 2017. A jogger, clad in a t-shirt and shorts, collided with a 33-year-old woman walking in the opposite direction and pushed her. She fell onto the road into the path of an approaching bus, which managed to swerve at the last moment, averting disaster.

He continued running and about 15 minutes later, jogged back over the bridge. At the time, police reported that the victim attempted to speak to him but “he did not acknowledge her”, according to detectives.

At the time, officers described the suspect as a white man, in his 30s, with brown eyes and short brown hair, reports the BBC. Despite scrutinising a group of around 50 people, police never made any arrests and ‘all lines of enquiry have been exhausted’.

The investigation was closed in 2018 before new information came to light that led to today’s dramatic development.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said today: “On Monday, 15 June, a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.

“He was taken to police custody, where he remains.

“The arrest relates to an incident on 5 May 2017, where a woman was pushed into the path of a bus on Putney Bridge in Putney.

“Inquiries continue.”

The suspect has familial links to some of Europe’s leading royal dynasties, including the House of Windsor, the Mail reports.
