Curry sauce addict downs 14 pints a month and ‘smuggled’ 100 pots into Benidorm

A mum who can’t eat without multiple sachets of McDonald’s curry sauce has gone to extreme lengths to maintain access to the sauce while on holiday in Benidorm, Spain

A mum who downs 14 pints of McDonald’s curry sauce every month ‘smuggled’ 100 pots on her Benidorm getaway as she ‘can’t eat without it’.

Sophie Sant is ‘hooked’ on her beloved condiment but was terrified she might not be able to get hold of it during a five-night break to Benidorm, Spain, with her partner and daughter this week. The 21-year-old says she was ‘petrified’ that she wouldn’t be permitted to pack the 100 25ml sachets in her checked baggage and that it would ‘destroy’ her holiday and force her to return home early.

After sampling curry sauce with her very first McDonald’s Happy Meal at just 12 months old, Sophie now point-blank refuses to eat anything without it. She purchases an entire £33.60 box containing 336 sachets of curry sauce in one go, and the mum-of-one says she has at least five with every meal and pops 10 in her handbag whenever she dines out.

Excluding breakfast, if Sophie has two meals a day, that’s 10 sachets of sauce daily and an estimated 310 sachets consumed every month – thousands annually.

At 25ml per sachet, it means Sophie is consuming around 7.8 litres or 14 pints of curry sauce monthly.

Taking to TikTok, the sun bed business owner posted footage of herself placing the sachets into her suitcase with the caption “watch me (try to) smuggle 100 McDonald’s curry sauces to Benidorm”.

In the clip you can hear her saying, “I am very much so addicted to McDonald’s curry sauce with every meal. I’m physically unable to spend five nights without it”.

Moments later you can hear her saying: “in this process [my boyfriend] did lose a pair of trainers. He doesn’t know yet but he’s not bringing them”.

Later in the clip you can see Sophie carefully placing the sachets into two plastic bags before firmly putting them into her suitcase.

Numerous users flocked to the comments to share their amusement with one user saying: “I can’t deal with you and this sauce.”

The parent says she will only eat curry sauce from McDonald’s because she has tried other ones which she says taste “horrible”.

Sophie who lives in Tipton, West Midlands, said: “I’m pretty addicted to curry sauce. I’d come home [if I couldn’t bring the curry sauce]. It would just ruin my trip.

“This is my first time going abroad. My friends have had to deal with a few breakdowns over it really just in case but everyone’s saying they will let me take it so I should get over there with it fine.

“I [was] scared for my life in case they took it. I just reassured myself I’ll be absolutely fine but I was nervous.

“I worked it out to needing 140 so I got my box of curry sauce out from under my bed and started counting out all the sauces and there were only 100 left.

“I ordered a McDonald’s and ordered more curry sauce so I am going to try and squeeze some more in there.”

Sophie’s grandad first started buying her the boxes of curry sauce as presents as a child until he passed away in 2021. The mum revealed she purchases the curry sauce directly from the McDonald’s outlet itself, much to the entertainment of staff, and now even her daughter won’t eat a thing without it.

Plenty of users flocked to the comments to share their hilarity.

One user commented: “This is me but with mint sauce and sour cream. Has to come with me.”

Another user remarked: “I can’t deal with you and this sauce.”

A third user noted: “This made me laugh so much.”
