UK’s ‘hardest man’ vows to ‘beat up a gorilla’ if he got here face-to-face with one
The UK’s self-appointed “hardest man” has claimed he would “easily” beat a gorilla in a fight. Charlie Stacks’ bold response to our question went some way to providing the recent online debate about who would win in a fight out of 100 men and one gorilla. “Me, I’d win,” said Charlie.
“It’s a tough one,” said Charlie, slightly tilting his head in mock thought. “For the gorilla. Of course I’d win.” He added: “Look – I’m the hardest man in the UK. I’m hard as f***. Of course I’d bang a gorilla.”
The Daily Star sincerely believes that by “bang”, Charlie meant ‘beat up’ as opposed to any other type of meaning that word could hold.
Not only is Charlie Stacks the ‘hardest man in the UK’ – he’s a hard man to pin down. We spent the best part of a rainy Thursday in Manchester trying to find Mr. Stacks – real name Charlie Roberts – before eventually cornering him in the stairwell of the New Century House.
In the main room the country’s press was grilling Tommy Fury on his left hook ahead of his clash with Eddie Hall. In the stairwell – just next to the venue’s toilets – we quizzed Charlie Stacks on aliens, UFO’s and of course gorillas.
Charlie, who was less than 48 hours away from his Misfits boxing match with ‘Armz’ Korleone, used some choice words when we pressed him on the gorilla. “Look, it wouldn’t be a fair fight, let me tell you again – I’m the hardest man in the UK.”
Due to a cheap shot the night before from fellow boxer Jordan McCann, Charlie sported a busted upper lip during our conversation. “I’m not 100% cleared for the fight,” he said. “But I’ll show everyone on Saturday what the hardest man can do.”
Because of his injury, Charlie and ‘Armz’ were forced to compete in a ‘body shots only’ bout. Our ‘hardest man’ went onto lose the match – and fans inside the Manchester arena booed the pair of fighters, dubbing it the “strangest fight you will ever see”.
Online commentators weren’t too impressed either. One social media user wrote underneath a clip of the fight: “Big Stacks is now known as… man in the UK.”
Another added: “Can we stop calling that c*** Big Stacks the hardest man in Britain now? Softest f****** body shot and he’s out. Div.” While another said: “Big Stacks, the hardest man in Britain but he can’t be hit in the face.
Despite settling the scores on the infamous internet debate about gorillas, Charlie appears to have some way to go in terms of whether or not he can best a human.
