Man Utd information: Michael Carrick urged to hijack Yan Diomande deal as switch twist emerges
A former Manchester United star has urged Michael Carrick to hijack Liverpool’s transfer deal for Yan Diomande while a major twist has emerged
Manchester United are preparing for a hectic summer transfer window with the market now officially open. Michael Carrick’s team are set to return to Champions League action next season and will be keen to strengthen their squad with additional depth and quality.
Anticipation is mounting at Old Trafford following a third-place Premier League campaign, and with crucial midfielder Casemiro heading for the exit, reinforcements will be essential. Ederson is poised to become the first new face through the door.
However, a former striker has called on the club to enter the chase for one of World Cup 2026’s most impressive performers so far – Ivory Coast and RB Leipzig sensation Yan Diomande. Daily Star Sport examines the latest transfer developments at Old Trafford.

United’s fierce rivals Liverpool are allegedly prepared to splash £86m on Diomande this summer, although his present club are said to be demanding a fee exceeding £100m, reports the Mirror.
Louis Saha, who previously spearheaded United’s attack, has called on his former side to muscle in on this transfer and attempt to snatch the deal from Liverpool’s grasp. He told Casinolyze.co.uk: “Man Utd should hijack Liverpool’s interest in Yan Diomande, definitely.
“This type of winger now dominates football. When you have that confidence and simplicity in your game, to dribble, pass, be physical, and be courageous, I love that. Those styles are amazing.
“I think Diomande had a great opening game, and it’s been a year with Leipzig where he’s done really well. I am pleased to see that kind of career because it was not easy starting in the US and now being a superstar. I think he can be a superstar like Lamine Yamal.”
Marcus Rashford twist
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford finds himself at the centre of another transfer development this summer. The England ace, who found the net in the Three Lions’ opening World Cup triumph over Croatia, spent the previous campaign on loan with Barcelona.
Despite a £26m option to buy included in the loan arrangement, it went unactivated and has now lapsed, leaving Rashford’s destiny hanging in the balance. A fresh loan spell in Catalonia has been suggested.
Yet German publication Bild claims that Bayern Munich have now set their sights on the 28-year-old. Rashford’s agents have allegedly been approached by Bayern following the German club’s failure to secure his international colleague, Anthony Gordon, who has moved to Barcelona.
