Mum buys £14.99 pretend enamel on Facebook to repair her smile and all of it goes horribly incorrect

A gran bought fake teeth on Facebook to fix her smile – only for the £14.99 dentures to look ‘like HARIBO SWEETS’. Karen Soper was on the hunt for a perfect pair of pearly whites after losing all her teeth to gum disease 20 years ago.
The 58-year-old said she felt self-conscious about her missing gnashers, but couldn’t afford to pay for professional treatment.
Instead, the mum-of-three stumbled upon a Facebook post, advertising ‘simple at-home moldable dentures’ that promise to help customers ‘smile confidently again’.
The advert, linked to a Facebook page with just 18 followers, included a video of users confidently munching on apples and corn on the cobs while wearing their dentures.
Blown away by the apparent quality of the artificial teeth, the retired carer placed an order for £14.99 but was appalled by what arrived in the post on Monday, June 1.
The gran-of-four opened the package to find her new dentures were made of ‘solid, cheap plastic’ and instantly ‘fell out of her mouth’.
Karen claims the order looked nothing like the Facebook ad, insisting that Haribo teeth sweets looked better than her new gnashers.
Now, the grandma is urging others not to make the same mistake after losing her money. Karen, from Neath, Wales, said: “I don’t have any teeth at all, I lost them about 20 years ago.
“I had gum disease and had to have them all out. I’ve been wearing dentures but they just keep falling out all the time.
“I’m really self-conscious of them and can’t afford to get them professionally done. It really bothers me.
“So when I saw this advert on Facebook, I thought they looked absolutely brilliant. The people wearing them were eating an apple and crunching on a corn on a cob, but the teeth that came looked nothing like them.
“It was just solid plastic. You can’t even fit them in your mouth, they’re just solid, cheap plastic. They look nothing like the advert.”
Repeated attempts to wear her new teeth saw them instantly fall out of her mouth.
Karen said: “I tried to put them in and they just fell out my mouth. It looks exactly like the teeth sweets you can buy, the Haribo sweets teeth look nicer.
“Someone’s making an absolute fortune because these teeth look like they cost 20p. I’ve ordered stuff from Facebook before and it’s been fine. I just want to tell people not to get stung as well.”
