Baby woman discovered lifeless in garbage at UK warehouse as police say mum ‘in actual want of assist’
The newborn, believed to be a girl, was found at the industrial site on Station Road, Rowley Regis, on Thursday morning (June 25) as West Midlands Police launch an urgent mother search and appeal for information
A newborn’s body was tragically discovered among rubbish at a warehouse in Rowley Regis.
The infant, thought to be a girl, was found at the industrial site on Station Road on Thursday morning (June 25).
Police are now urgently seeking the baby’s mother, who may be ‘in real need of help’.
The baby was located within a pile of waste, which had been brought to the site by a private waste operator.
West Midlands Police suspect the child was unknowingly transported on Wednesday, June 24, reports Birmingham Live.
The force is not linking the operator, which works across the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and West Mercia regions, to the baby’s death.
Forensic examinations to identify the girl and determine her cause of death are ongoing, but the force emphasised that locating the mum is an ‘absolute priority’.
Det Chief Inspector Kylie Westlake, from the force’s Public Protection Unit, stated: “While we don’t yet know what has happened, what we do know is that there must be a mother out there who is in real need of help − and she is our absolute priority at the moment.
“We have been checking CCTV and speaking to hospitals, but it may be that the mother or someone who knows who she is sees this appeal.
“I really want to speak to her to make sure she’s OK, and to ensure that she can get the help that she urgently needs.
“We’ll treat information we receive sensitively, and we’d ask for anyone who can help us identify who baby and mother was to come forward.
“It may be you live near a baby, and their mother, who have unexpectedly not been seen for a number of days.”
