Man Utd information: ‘Next Caicedo’ flies in for medical and £75m World Cup star switch newest
Manchester United’s transfer window is heating up as Michael Carrick looks to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League and Champions League next season
Manchester United face a pivotal transfer window as manager Michael Carrick seeks to build on his encouraging beginning in the Old Trafford dugout.
The Red Devils will be desperate to improve upon last season’s third-place finish and make their mark in the Champions League. Brazilian midfielder Ederson is set to finalise his switch to United from Atalanta, with additional signings – plus several exits – expected. With Casemiro departing following the expiry of his deal, more midfield reinforcements are needed and United are said to be engaged in a tussle with Tottenham for West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes.
The Portugal international is among several players linked with a move to Old Trafford, alongside Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali, though Elliot Anderson – another target United had pursued – has agreed terms with Manchester City. Regarding departures, calamity goalkeeper Andre Onana appears likely to extend his loan spell at Trabzonspor, with the Turkish club covering his salary and paying a loan fee. Here’s all the latest news from Old Trafford.

New midfielder jets in to join squad
Promising midfielder Cristian Orozco is poised to begin his United journey as he approaches his 18th birthday.
United struck a deal to sign the Fortaleza CEIF prospect last September but must wait until July 13, when he reaches 18, to officially register him, reports the Mirror.
United are taking proactive steps by flying him to Manchester this weekend with chief scout Giuseppe Antonaccio to begin the acclimatisation process and conduct his medical.
Given his young age, the Colombian, whose playing style has drawn comparisons to Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo, is seen as a prospect for the future and will initially join United’s under-21 squad.
However, some first-team action next season isn’t beyond the realms of possibility.
With United participating in the Champions League, Carrick may opt to rotate his team significantly in the Carabao Cup.
United ‘make contact’ with World Cup ace
United have reportedly reached out to World Cup star Felix Nmecha, according to reports from Germany.
A number of clubs are said to be interested in Borussia Dortmund’s Nmecha, who has received glowing praise for his performances in North America so far this summer.
Sky Germany suggest United are aiming to outdo the ‘increasing competition’ for the 25-year-old and haven’t been deterred by his long-term Dortmund contract, which has four years remaining and includes a £75.5million buyout clause.
Newcastle are also reported to be interested but allegedly want to negotiate down the asking price, potentially leaving the door ajar for Man United to swoop in.
A move to the Premier League appeals to Nmecha, who is the younger brother of Leeds United forward Lukas. For now, Felix’s attention will be on the World Cup, where Germany face Paraguay in the last 32 after finishing top of Group E.
