Aliens could make first contact with humans at the World Cup, according to Brit UFO investigator Mark Christopher Lee. The renowned documentary filmmaker made the prediction after analysing UFO activity linked to football stadiums and major tournaments.
Lee, whose docs The King of UFOs, God Versus Aliens, and UFO Encounters of the 5th Kind have earned global acclaim, said extraterrestrials may use the football fest to reveal themselves to the world for the first time.
Blind Bulgarian mystic Baba Vanga foresaw first contact in late 2026 at a ‘massive global gathering’.
Lee said with billions watching the World Cup live the timing ‘aligns eerily’ with ‘escalating UFO disclosures and ‘recent Pentagon file releases’ under President Donald Trump.
He said there was a ‘documented history of bizarre UFO-soccer intersections’ that ‘suggest extraterrestrials have long had a curious interest in the world’s beautiful game’ – including one incident when a spaceship stopped play.
During a friendly in Florence, Italy, between Fiorentina and Pistoiese on October 27 1954 10,000 fans and players watched amazed as cigar-shaped, egg-like silvery objects appeared overhead performing acrobatic manoeuvres in the sky forcing the ref to halt play.
Stars, including Italian national team legend Ardico Magnini who played at the 1954 World Cup, stared upward in disbelief.
As the objects departed they released a mysterious fibrous substance known as ‘angel hair’ – silvery, thread-like strands that draped over the stadium, rooftops, and trees.
Samples collected by witnesses analysed at the University of Florence were and found to contain boron, silicon, magnesium and calcium.
The material disintegrated rapidly when touched.
“This was no isolated event,” said Lee.
“It occurred amid a massive wave of UFO sightings across Tuscany and Europe that autumn.”
During the 2018 World Cup in Russia a giant ‘stingray-shaped’ UFO lit up the night sky directly over Nizhny Novgorod Stadium – venue for several high-profile matches including England v Panama.
Video captured by a witness from Kirov went viral sparking worldwide speculation that ET had tuned in for the tournament.
While skeptics later suggested a rocket launch or atmospheric phenomenon, the dramatic sighting fuelled fresh debate about visitors drawn to humanity’s biggest sporting spectacle.
Additional strange soccer-UFO links include fan-captured images of disc-like objects hovering over professional matches – such as a 2023 sighting above Mexico’s FC Juárez Bravos stadium – and ‘recurring reports of orbs and cigar-shaped craft near major stadiums worldwide’.
“The pattern is undeniable,” said Lee.
“From Florence in 1954, where a packed stadium became a UFO viewing platform, to modern World Cup venues, soccer has repeatedly been interrupted or overshadowed by the unexplained.
“With the 2026 tournament kicking off amid unprecedented transparency from the US Government we may be days or weeks away from the moment the world has been waiting for – live disclosure before the largest global audience in human history.
“If my prediction is correct the final whistle of the 2026 World Cup could also mark the beginning of a new era for humanity.”
