‘Day events are the way forward for London’s social scene and this venue proves it’
Day parties could be the future of London’s social scene as this one London venue may be the perfect locale for Brits looking to enjoy a summer filled with heatwaves and record-breaking temperatures
Finding a good spot for a night out in London can be difficult as, despite the popular saying, London is a city that definitely sleeps – with a very sharp bedtime.
With that in mind, trying a new venue to socialise on the weekend can be a massive gamble as no one wants to get unlucky and spend their Saturday night surrounded by a bunch of wall huggers and an empty dance floor. With London’s nightlife in an uncertain position, many young Brits have flocked to day parties for their fix of good music and soulful vibes.
To see if London’s day parties are the future of the city’s social scene, I ventured to LDN East’s RNBLAND event to find out. The RnB, Hip-Hop, Slow Dancehall, Afrobeats soiree in the sun sounded like a match made in heaven when I first stumbled across it. After the function, I realised I had been missing out.
The event was a blast. The LDN East venue brought in more than 1000 R&B lovers under one “roof” without the spot feeling crammed at any point. The DJ’s understood the assignment and provided back to back bangers throughout the entire afternoon in the sun.
The outdoor venue created from a myriad of shipping containers was the perfect home for the R&B function. Located in Canning Town, London, the spot has excellent travel links with the DLR and tube networks only being a 10 minute walk for the east London venue.
In particular I was a massive fan of the open-air dance floor surrounded by numerous balconies and walkways. Too many club venues are plagued with humid, hot and sweaty dance floors which curb attendees’ enjoyment as they’re forced to run-off to smoking and outdoor areas for a bit of fresh air.
But LDN East didn’t have this issue at all, due to the open-top nature of the venue. For people looking to fill their bellies before hitting the dance floor, the venue also served hungry customers with a number of delicious Caribbean bites at very affordable prices.
The event was held on a Sunday afternoon starting at 4pm and ending at 10pm. The early start and 10pm finish made the evening ideal for young Londoners like myself looking to enjoy a function without wrecking their sleep schedule and leaving them drained for work on the following Monday.
Ultimately I loved the event. The good music, delicious food, friendly staff and infectious atmosphere all made for an amazing experience as day parties are now set to be my go to function to enjoy London this summer.
As Brits strap in for a summer filled with heatwaves and record-breaking temperatures, I’ve got a feeling the LDN East venue is going to be the perfect locale for revellers looking to enjoy the good weather this summer.
