‘I ditched my common mop for a swanky high-tech one and have not seemed again’
OPINION: After tripping over the bucket and spilling the water everywhere one too many times, I decided to ditch the old fashioned mop to try out Shark’s Klik n’ Flip Steam Mop
If you’re anything like me, mopping the floor is high on the list of jobs you’d happily avoid so when I got my hands on the Shark Klik n’ Flip Steam Mop, I was hoping it’d make one of the most boring household chores a bit less painful.
The steam mop heats up quickly, meaning there’s no hanging around waiting for it to get going – just fill the tank with water, pick one of three steam settings and you’re off! Believe it or not no extra cleaning products are needed, just the hot steam going head to head with the dirt.
Instead of stopping halfway through to wrestle with a grubby cleaning pad, you simply flip the clever Klik n’ Flip mop over and carry on with the fresh side. I was particularly impressed with how easily it glided across sealed hard floors as I scrubbed at the dust, footprints and kitchen splashes.
What would usually take some elbow grease actually disappeared with very little effort as the Steam Blast function helps loosen stubborn marks Rather than pushing dirt around, the washable Dirt Grip pads do a solid job of lifting the muck away and once you’re finished they can go straight in the washing machine ready for next time.
An 8-metre power cord means you’re not constantly hunting for the nearest socket, although it is still a corded appliance so you’ll occasionally find yourself having to untangle it or scooch it around your furniture.
The snazzy gadget has a runtime of around 11.5 minutes per tank, so you’ll definitely need to top it up if you’re cleaning the whole house in one go. It also won’t stand upright on its own, so you’ll need somewhere to lean it but these minor points are really no bother.
