Vicar claims alien UFOs will not be demons and factors to secret Bible codes
A prominent British vicar has said that Christians should be more optimistic about attitudes towards aliens and UFOs, adding that he disagrees with theories that they are secretly demons
A prominent UK vicar has claimed that the Bible might just point to the existence of intelligent life beyond the realms of earth.
Father Lee Taylor, who runs three churches in North Wales, says he thinks that the holy Christian scripture contains some clues that aliens and extra-terrestrials could be God’s creations a bit like humans as opposed to demons.
He said he had been examining passages of the bible so that Christians like him can get prepared were otherworldly life to be confirmed by science. He says verses like Ezekiel’s vision of the “wheel within a wheel”, and Jesus’ words in John 14:2 that “in my Father’s house are many rooms” are some of many that support his theory.
The vicar told the Daily Mail: “A bigger universe, or the discovery of a bigger universe, doesn’t make God smaller. It just makes creation bigger. I don’t think it’s a challenge to faith. I think it’s a challenge to the limits of our theological imagination.”
Taylor also called on Christians to reconsider any beliefs that UFOs or aliens would be connected to the world of the demonic, saying that this viewpoint encourages people to react to ideas of aliens with fear rather than approach an unknown phenomenon with an open and at-ease mind.
He says that were aliens to be discovered, “there’s no reason to assume that every other form of intelligence would fit neatly into categories of absolute good or absolute evil.”
Taylor reckons that the Bible’s first book Genesis was key to forming his theory, as it repeatedly describes humanity as God’s supreme creation on Earth , leaving open the possibility that intelligent life could exist elsewhere in God’s creation.
He also pointed to the Book of Ezekiel, which describes a mysterious “wheel within a wheel”. While most biblical scholars see the passage as a symbolic vision of God’s glory, Taylor said some believe it could describe complex alien technology that ancient writers could not explain.
Finally, he cited John 14:2, in which Jesus says: “In my Father’s house are many rooms.”
Although traditionally interpreted as referring to the fact that lots of different kinds of people can go to heaven, Taylor suggested it could hint at a far larger creation than humanity has yet discovered.
“When Jesus talks about ‘many rooms’ or ‘many mansions’, using language that people at the time would have understood, I wonder if this is some sort of hint? Could we view it that way?” he said.
