Andoni Iraola is getting his first taste of pre-season at Liverpool
Liverpool’s pre-season is ready to kick off with transfer gossip swirling around the Premier League giants.
Andoni Iraola’s squad officially commence their summer training with a friendly match against Sunderland in Nashville next Saturday. As the Reds’ World Cup stars return from the tournament, many are due back in the United States for their summer training and friendly games.
Despite the acquisitions of Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz, Iraola is still on the hunt for fresh talent to bolster his squad in the coming weeks and he needs to hurry up as targets are moving. The heat is certainly on for the new gaffer to outdo Arne Slot’s terrible second season. Here’s all the latest news from Anfield.

Liverpool legend issues double transfer plea
Ex-Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer has urged his former club to focus on strengthening the right flank above all else this summer, reports the Mirror.
Mohamed Salah’s exit has left a void in that position, while the Reds were frequently caught short at right-back last term due to injuries to Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong.
They’ve already snapped up Munoz, who can operate down that flank. Nonetheless, this hasn’t quelled rumours linking the likes of Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola as more high-profile options to plug the gap on the right.

“I think the areas of concern are down Liverpool’s right-hand side, having lost Trent [Alexander-Arnold] two seasons ago [sic],” McAteer pointed out. “It vacated a big, big space which we obviously thought Conor Bradley would slot into.
“You felt Conor was ready to go into that position but unfortunately through injury and performances he’s not been able to do that. And then Jeremie Frimpong came in.
“He’s not an ideal right-back in defensive situations. He’s more of a wing-back, more of an attacking player. So he’s had to fill in and we’ve had [Dominik] Szobsozlai play right-back too so it’s not been great.

“I think that had unsettled Salah as well and then Salah’s obviously gone. So that right-hand side is an area we need to strengthen, both in the full-back and the wide position.
“There’s been no real talk about a full-back, but certainly Diomande has been spoken about quite a lot to come into that area.”
Diomande, who would command a fee north of £100million, was being linked with a switch to Liverpool, but PSG seem to have since edged ahead in that pursuit.
This leaves Iraola back at square one in his quest for a successor to Salah, while there’s scant progress on a new right-back joining anytime soon.

Liverpool have finalised the signing of young centre-back Isaiah Bryan from West Brom, with the 14-year-old prospect joining for around £200,000.
Bryan, whose transfer was announced on Instagram, is set to join Liverpool’s under-15s squad.
It’s rumoured the Reds pipped Aston Villa to the post in securing the defender’s services.
The mooted £200,000 figure is understood to be a compensation fee, rather than an official transfer sum.
Upon joining the ranks at Kirkby, Bryan posted on his Instagram: “Proud to announce that I’m joining Liverpool Football Club.
“It’s an honour to become part of a great club. I’m grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to get started and meet my team-mates. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey.”
