FC Barcelona has issued a statement after the death of a 54-year-old man who was working on renovations of their iconic statement.
The Spanish giants have said they “deeply regrets the death of the worker” following the tragedy at Spotify Camp Nou yesterday (July 24).
According to Catalan regional police said the worker is believed to have died as a result of “a blow” suffered during redevelopment work. Emergency services raced to the stadium to help the injured man but were sadly unable to save his life.
An investigation into the “workplace accident” are now underway as FC Barcelona offered its “deepest condolences” to the man’s family.

The club have also offered “heartfelt support” to his friends and loved ones as FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has offered himself “at their disposal”.
In a statement, the Catalan club said: “FC Barcelona deeply regrets the death of the worker who lost his life yesterday in the workplace accident that occurred during the renovation works at Spotify Camp Nou.

“The club wishes to express its deepest condolences and extend its heartfelt support to his family, friends, and colleagues.
“FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta wishes to personally convey his condolences to the family and places himself at their disposal on behalf of the entire club.”
