Bruno Fernandes and Dominik Szoboszlai’s cringe Manchester United-Liverpool love-in has had fans slamming ‘the game has gone’.
The historic rivalry between the two biggest and most successful clubs in English football is unyielding between supporters; however, that ferocity seems to have been stripped back in recent years by the players on the pitch who are playing for the pride of the two cities.
After a record-breaking season, Bruno Fernandes was belatedly named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and the United captain appeared on the Beast Mode Podcast with former Football League striker and Liverpool fan Adebayo Akinfenwa on the same night with his trophy in hand.

At the end of the chat, Akinfenwa confessed that his 11-year-old son idolises Fernandes and the Portuguese star is his favourite player.
Akinfenwa quipped that he needs a DNA test to prove that his son really is his after blurring the lines between the United and Liverpool divide.
But Fernandes admitted his own shock at finding out his son is a fan of Anfield midfielder Szoboszlai during a recent kickabout at home.

Fernandes confessed: “Yesterday my son was playing football and he was telling me he was Szoboszlai. He calls himself every player anyway, but when he said Szoboszlai I was like; ‘What?!'”
The Old Trafford skipper’s comments went viral on social media and were picked up by Szoboszlai, who commented: “Gotta admit, your son’s got good taste @brunofernadnes8”, adding the sideways smiley, laughing and handshake emoji.
While Fernandes replied: “@_SZD10 Great taste for sure (winking emoji). If he learns to kick the ball like you then I will be very happy.”

The love-in caused a major stir on either side as both sets of fans fumed at the lack of rivalry between the two, one user brilliantly wrote: “We used to be sworn enemies.. now our players tickle each others balls on social media. I’m not here for this.”
Alongside plenty of pictures of Sean Dyche leaning up against a wall, another added: “These are the people we fight over!” A third slammed: “Not a fan of this friendliness ur meant to hate each other.”
A fourth commented: “Games gone rivals flirting with each other. Roy Keane must be fuming rn.” While another echoed: “Lol this will give Roy Keane a massive headache.”
United and Liverpool meet for the first time in the league this season in late November, before the reverse fixture at Old Trafford in January.
