Six massive names who might go away Newcastle this summer time as Eddie Howe quits in switch storm

Eddie Howe has left Newcastle and the Magpies have been thrown into chaos ahead of the new Premier League season.

The 48-year-old left his post on Thursday morning just hours after they were battered 4-1 in a pre-season friendly by Bristol City. The atmosphere around the club wasn’t good beforehand, as a miserable end to last season gave way to two of their top talents Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon both making big-money departures to Tottenham and Barcelona respectively.

Before his exit, Howe is said to have admitted that he had lost control of transfers, as speculation continued to swirl around their (remaining) key players. Bruno Guimaraes is now the latest star looking to leave the club. Despite Newcastle fans claiming he bleeds black and white, the Brazilian wants a move to Arsenal in a deal reportedly worth upwards of £75million.

Lewis Hall has had a quiet summer of action after he was bizarrely overlooked by Thomas Tuchel for England’s World Cup squad, but speculation surrounding his future has been anything but.

Injury stopped him from playing in the World Cup, and those recurring concerns could thwart a summer move. Arsenal and Manchester City are reportedly interested but a £60m asking price could be too much for the injury-prone 23-year-old.

Another potential midfield exit this summer, Joelinton has reportedly been offered to several Saudi Pro League clubs, including Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr.

The 29-year-old revived his career when converting from a hopeless striker to a box-to-box midfielder, but now halfway through a four-year contract, the offer of one final big payday could turn his head.

Despite the Saudi’s arrival, Jacob Murphy has surprisingly remained one of Newcastle’s key players, but the 31-year-old could also be heading for the exit door this summer.

The winger has just 12 months left on his contract and Everton are said to be keen on bringing him to Merseyside. It’s added that the Magpies could accept a proposal to avoid losing Murphy on a free next summer.

Nick Woltemade hit the ground running at Newcastle but he scored just once in the league in 2026 and was heavily linked with an exit just months after completing a £69m move from Stuttgart.

However, the big 24-year-old German has insisted that while he was unhappy last season, he returns with a point to prove in the upcoming campaign and looks set to stay on Tyneside.
