Wanted man on free in Liverpool after escaping from jail van heading for court docket
Merseyside Police are hunting for a wanted man after he managed to escape from a prison fan in Liverpool City centre after it arrived outside of the magistrates court

A wanted man is currently on the loose in Liverpool city centre after he escaped from a prison van as it arrived at court today (August 1). Stephen Grzyb, 22, of Princess Drive, Liverpool, was being transported from Belle Vale custody suite by GEOAmey but absconded on onarrival at Liverpool Magistrates Court.
Grzyb was due in court charged with a domestic-related burglary, Merseyside Police said. Grzyb has been described as white with short dark hair and when last seen was wearing a navy T-shirt and navy shorts.
Police have released a mugshot of Grzyb in hope of help from members of the public to find him. He was last seen heading on foot on Red Cross Street in the direction of The Strand.

Members of the public have been urged to call 999 immediately should they come across Grzyb. Police confirmed that patrols have been sent to the alleged victim of the domestic-related burglary.
Merseyside Police said: “We are appealing for information to find a wanted man following his escape from the custody of a prisoner transport contractor in Liverpool city centre today (Saturday 1 August).
“At around 10am, the man – who was being transported from Belle Vale custody suite by GEOAmey – made off on arrival outside Liverpool Magistrates Court.
“He made off on foot down Red Cross Street in the direction of The Strand. Extensive enquiries are currently being taken by officers to locate him.
“Patrols have also attended the home of the alleged victim in the case to ensure she is safeguarded while the search is ongoing.”
Temporary Inspector Bethan Hannon said: “We understand the concern this incident will cause, and it is vital the public can see Grzyb’s face so they can report any sightings and help us bring him back into custody as soon as possible.
“If you have heard from him or know where he is, please do the right thing and come forward.
“Assisting him in any way will bring police to your own door, so it is not an association worth keeping.
“If you see Grzyb, please call 999 immediately. We are carrying out extensive enquiries to find him with patrols on foot and CCTV enquiries being made right across the city centre so that we can return him to custody.”
