A Spider-Man screening had to be evacuated after a filmgoer suffered a bout of extreme flatulence. The showing of Spider-Man: Brand New Day was abandoned mid-film when the attendee’s overpowering farts filled the room on Sunday. (August 2).
Cinema-goers watching the latest movie in the franchise fled their seats after the intense odour made the darkened auditorium intolerable. Hundreds of viewers were evacuated into the corridor.
Footage showed crowds milling outside the screen, some covering their faces, while a costumed Spider-Man character mingled among them.
The perpetrator has not been identified and remains anonymous, with reports stating the individual either failed to reach the toilets in time or released a stink bomb as a prank.

The incident took place at the Cine Colombia multiplex inside the Plaza Bocagrande shopping centre in Cartagena, Colombia. Social media users reacted with a mixture of outrage and dark humour, one commenting: “There’s no respect any more, but I don’t think anyone is so rotten as to evacuate an entire auditorium.”
Another person wrote: “It must have been someone playing a joke and it went wrong.” A third user said: “To ruin a whole cinema like that, only God knows what that person ate.”
Many described the unknown culprit as the film’s unexpected “villain”. The screening was not cancelled by staff, although large numbers of patrons chose to leave before the end.

Despite the disruption, no one was reported injured and the cinema continued operating other screens as normal. The latest Spider-Man film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and starring Tom Holland, continues its run at the Plaza Bocagrande complex and other venues across the city.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now showing exclusively in cinemas across the UK after officially premiering on July 29, with fans needing to head to the big screen to see the latest Marvel blockbuster.
The film has already smashed huge global box office records, pulling in a staggering $927 million (about £725 million) in its opening weekend.
Consequently, it’s the second-biggest global cinematic opening in box office history. Picking up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker is living in a world where everyone has completely forgotten who he is.

With nobody left to turn to, he’s operating as a lonely, full-time, street-level Spider-Man when an invisible new threat starts to emerge. Tom Holland returns for his fourth standalone Spider-Man film, with his wife Zendaya back as MJ.
The cast also includes Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Mark Ruffalo, and introduces Stranger Things star Sadie Sink to the franchise. Behind the camera, the film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton – the man behind Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – with the movie aiming for a more mature, more physical and more grounded vibe than previous outings.
