Arsenal appear poised to accelerate their transfer activity as the window approaches its closing stages – the Gunners will this week secure Bruno Guimaraes on a five-year contract.

With their midfield requirement now addressed, Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are anticipated to turn their complete attention towards acquiring both a new defender and a marquee forward.

With the new campaign rapidly approaching, further dealings are anticipated to be completed at the Emirates in the coming days. Daily Star Sport now examines two of the most significant developments concerning Arsenal’s transfer window movements.

Arsenal are allegedly readying a new proposal for Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa. The Gunners are understood to have already tabled a bid that fell well below the £60m price tag Villa have set for the 28-year-old, reports Football London.

The Mail reports, however, that Konsa has remained firmly in Arsenal’s sights as a priority defensive target. William Saliba’s extended injury lay-off has heightened Arteta’s resolve to bring in established Premier League cover at centre-back.

Villa are under no financial pressure to sell Konsa, having recently banked a considerable sum from Chelsea for Morgan Rogers. The England centre-back also has two years remaining on his existing contract.

Gabriel Martinelli rules out move

Gabriel Martinelli is understood to have several clubs showing interest in him ahead of a potential departure this summer. The Brazilian’s playing time could be significantly curtailed should Arsenal successfully land another left winger.

According to CBS Sports, those eager to secure the 25-year-old’s signature include Serie A outfits Roma and Juventus, alongside Turkish side Fenerbahce, who have been monitoring his circumstances in north London closely.

Martinelli is said to be in no rush to make a decision, given his present satisfaction at the club and the fact he still has 12 months left on his deal. However, talkSPORT reports that a move to the Saudi Pro League holds minimal attraction for the Brazilian at this point.
