Car ‘mounts pavement’ in UK metropolis as three injured and particular person rushed to hospital

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after three people were hurt when a vehicle drove onto the pavement in a Bristol street.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Stokes Croft around 6.30am this morning this morning (Sunday, August 9) following a collision after ‘an incident of disorder’. Two of the three individuals sustained minor injuries, but one person was rushed to hospital.
Their injuries are not thought to be as severe as initially feared, police added. Footage obtained by BristolLive shows a vehicle mounting the kerb on Stokes Croft as pedestrians were making their way along the street.

A police cordon remains in position and members of the public are advised there will be a heightened police presence in the vicinity.
Thomas Street, Hepburn Road, Stokes Croft, and City Road remain shut this afternoon and drivers are urged to find alternative routes where possible.
A local business was also damaged during the incident, police confirm.
A man, believed to be the motorist, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and dangerous driving. At the time of reporting, he remains in police custody while officers continue their investigation.
The man thought to be the driver was also treated for facial injuries.
A scene remains in place and Thomas Street, Hepburn Road, Stokes Croft and City Road remain closed while officers continue to make enquiries and drivers are urged to avoid the area at this time.
