Dealer cries after money, designer garments and £100k of medication discovered at mother and father’ dwelling

A drug dealer burst into tears in court after it was heard £100,000 worth of cocaine as well as designer clothes were found at his parents’ house.

Jakub Cwiek, 31, was nowhere to be seen when police raided the property in Loughborough, where thousands of pounds in cash was also discovered. He had heard about the raid and threw his phone into the canal to get rid of further evidence linking him to his illicit dealings, the court was told.

Cwiek was arrested the next day and admitted working for an illegal drugs operation during a police interview. He was jailed on Wednesday (August 5) after admitting supplying cannabis and cocaine and acquiring criminal property, which related to the cash and designer clothes and accessories.

Leicester Crown Court heard that, during the raid, police found a range of items in his bedroom. This included three vacuum-packed lumps of cannabis, weighing about a kilo and worth £11,000 if sold on the street.

Officers also discovered an 83% pure block of cocaine, also weighing a kilo and worth up to £100,000 on the street On top of that, they also recovered £12,167 in cash, along with designer items including two coats, trainers and a Rolex.

Cwiek had previous convictions including cannabis dealing when he was 18 and a recent offence of violence. In mitigation Miranda Zeffman, defending, said Cwiek had “mental and developmental disorders” and had come to the UK when he was 11 and had been bullied and excluded from school.

She said that in 2024 he had been slashed in the leg, later telling police he had been attacked by drug bosses but could not testify against them, which led to a panic alarm being fitted inside his parent’s house.

Cwiek cried in the dock while the lawyer described his parents’ health problems and their shame at what their son had been doing. She added that Cwiek claimed the designer clothes were counterfeit.

Judge Timothy Spencer KC said the knife attack he had suffered had to be balanced against the evidence he was earning large amounts of money and trusted with drugs and cash.

He said: “It shows a certain lifestyle, even if some or all of this is counterfeit, which I doubt. You were involved at a very high level. You were not a put-upon drugs slave – very far from it.”

Commenting on the kilogramme of cocaine, the judge added: “It would have led to addiction, it would have led to misery and in some cases it would have led to death.”

He jailed Cwiek for six years. A Proceeds of Crime Act hearing will take place at a later date to consider what property and money can be confiscated from Cwiek.
