Glam instructor charged with grooming scholar, 14, after ‘secret conferences and video chats’
School teacher Sadie Flores, 25, has been arrested on grooming charges over an alleged improper relationship with a 14-year-old student
A married teacher has been arrested on grooming charges after allegedly holding secret meetings and late-night video calls with a 14-year-old pupil.
Mum-of-one Sadie Flores, 25, was put in handcuffs at Graves County Middle School in Kentucky, US, following allegations of an “improper relationship” with the youngster.
The middle school teacher was taken into custody last Friday and is facing a felony charge of grooming a minor. Flores is accused of attempting to “manipulate” the teenager by confessing “feelings of love and admiration”, according to legal documents obtained by the Daily Mail.
She has become the first individual charged under Kentucky’s newly enacted anti-grooming legislation. Passed on July 15, the law gives police forces powers to step in before a sexual assault takes place.
Sheriff’s deputies launched a probe after school officials alerted them, having been contacted directly by the boy’s worried parents.
The teen’s family reportedly uncovered a string of messages between the teacher and pupil across several social media applications.
Official court papers state: “The messages that were reviewed by investigators were determined…not to be of a legitimate purpose and were not school-related.” Alarmed parents also allegedly uncovered late-night FaceTime calls between the pair.
The documents add: “It appears the above [Flores] was attempting to manipulate the minor and expressed feelings of love and admiration more so than just a student-teacher relationship.
“It was also determined that they met in secret before a school function, outside of school, that [Flores] was not directly a part of, but lived in close proximity to the event.”
Flores married her husband in 2022 and gives regular family updates online. When announcing her pregnancy in 2024, she wrote: “We are so grateful God chose us to be parents to this sweet baby.”
Just weeks before her workplace arrest, she uploaded photographs of her infant daughter next to church signs. It remains unconfirmed if she was still actively teaching first-grade pupils up until her arrest.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said: “25-year-old Sadie M. Flores of Mayfield was arrested around 3.30pm at the Graves County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of grooming a minor, classified as a Class D felony.
“Flores, an employee at the Graves County Middle School reportedly was having an improper relationship with a minor student of the district.
“The allegation was initially reported to the Graves County School District Office, who then immediately reported it to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office for an investigation.
“Sheriff’s detectives’ investigation included the seizure of electronic records, interviews and other related investigative measures. Flores was interviewed this afternoon and then arrested.
“She was transported to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center, and later to an out of county detention center. The investigation is continuing.”
Graves County Schools Superintendent Matt Madding added: “District administration was made aware of an allegation involving a teacher at Graves County Middle School.
“School officials immediately reported this information to the Graves County Sheriff’s Department for investigation.
“We have since been informed that, as a result of that investigation, charges have been filed against this teacher. We want to assure our families that the safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority.”
