Man Utd star needs ‘superb’ Marcus Rashford switch plan cancelled – ‘he wants us’
Youri Tielemans rubbishes claims about Marcus Rashford’s attitude and insists his new team mate can be a superstar at Old Trafford again, with the right help and support

Youri Tielemans reckons Manchester United would be foolish to let Marcus Rashford leave Old Trafford again.
Rashford’s future remains in limbo after his hopes of a permanent move to Barcelona fell through this summer. The England international has returned to pre-season training, with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe still keen to get the 325,000-a-week forward off the club’s wage bill.
But Tielemans, appearing on ‘Rio Ferdinand Presents’, insists Rashford is far too good not to be helping United challenge for the biggest trophies again. The Belgium international, who has joined United from Aston Villa in a £35m deal, played alongside Rashford when he had a loan spell at Villa Park.

And Tielemans has poured scorn on those who question Rashford’s attitude. He said: “He’s got amazing qualities. And I mean, his touch, his acceleration, his finishing, you know, his qualities on the ball.
“But then I think what surprised me most with him was his commitment. You know, there was such a big thing made out of him that he wasn’t committed or wasn’t in it for the right reasons or whatever.
“And you see the player coming in and it’s completely opposite from what you hear. He was committed. He was doing the work. He was positive with everyone. You know, he was just a normal guy. And then he brings his qualities to the team and he just plays. We were very happy with him.”
Tielemans reckons with the right backing and support, Rashford could become one of United’s genuine superstars again.
He added: “I think he needs us. That’s it. I think he just needs support behind him. And he would always create something.
“So it’s something that, as a player, you want in your team. You want that type of player in your team, that can create at any moment.
“He can dribble past one, two, three players and then lay off for someone that can score. So to have him fit and ready to go with us would be great.”
