Liverpool have made an underwhelming start to life under new manager Andoni Iraola but have finally sprung into life late in the summer transfer window.
Having rescued a point in a dramatic 2-2 draw away against Newcastle United on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, the Reds could only manage another 2-2 stalemate with Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday, with the Spanish coach seemingly short on options in both attack and midfield.
Time is running out for the Reds to reinforce their squad with the transfer deadline at 11pm on Tuesday night, but yesterday they finally completed a massive £123m deal to bring French sensation Bradley Barcola to Merseyside from Paris Saint-Germain. With only hours left to bolster their understocked squad, here’s all the latest news from Anfield.

Sarr stance
Crystal Palace are understood to remain resolute in their determination to retain Ismaila Sarr this summer, despite attention from Liverpool.
The Reds saw a £50million offer turned down for the Senegal international last week, but continue to monitor the right winger, reports the Mirror.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Eagles have thus far dismissed additional approaches from Liverpool, but are examining possibilities in the market should an agreement be struck.

Palace are also understood to be insisting on £75m for their prized asset, with Foot Mercato reporting that Liverpool remain determined to land the winger’s services if a deal closer to £60m can be struck.
The pursuit of Sarr follows the Reds having two offers knocked back for Yankuba Minteh earlier this month. While it’s believed the club have shifted their focus elsewhere, a deal could still be revived should Brighton reduce their valuation from £80m.
Sources close to the player on Sunday suggested discussions were due to restart between the two clubs in a bid to thrash out an agreement late in the window. Minteh is understood to have set his sights on a switch to Merseyside.
Winger gives green light

Djylian N’Guessan is poised to join Liverpool next summer after the Reds struck a fee with his club, Saint-Etienne.
The 18-year-old attacker was previously courted by Chelsea, but his destiny now appears bound for Merseyside following the Reds reaching an agreement to capture the French U20 international.
The promising winger made his professional bow at only 16-years-old and has featured in 11 matches for the first team to date.
The Reds are applying the final touches to the transfer of the teen, having settled on an initial fee in a package valued at approximately £4.25m.
Should the switch materialise, N’Guessan, who has 12 months remaining on his contract, would see out this campaign with the Ligue 2 outfit.
Barcola breaks silence

Bradley Barcola, who will wear the No.29 shirt at Anfield, spoke following his move from Paris Saint-Germain to the Premier League.
He said: “It’s a great pride to be able to play for Liverpool. I’m very happy. It took a long time but I’m really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool and all I want is to be on the pitch and be able to play.
“I hope to achieve very big things. First of all, winning the Premier League – it’s one of my biggest dreams in my life. It is to do that and to stay in this team in the long term – that’s why I signed a long contract – and I hope I can do it.”
He continued: “I had the chance to play twice in this stadium and I saw the atmosphere and how the fans were behind the Liverpool players.
“When I knew about Liverpool’s interest in me, I didn’t ask questions and I knew it was a very big club for me.”
Gakpo to stay

Liverpool have made a final decision on Cody Gakpo’s short-term future after Manchester City lodged an £80million bid for the winger.
The Reds have rejected the bid and will keep the Dutchman at Anfield. The 27-year-old was said to have agreed terms with City, but the deal appears to have broken down in a massive U-turn.
It’s reported City will now turn their attention fully to making a blockbuster attempt to sign Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez in a potential British record transfer deal.
Gakpo has already registered a goal and an assist in Liverpool’s two games so far this season and on Saturday impressed on the right wing, rather than his usual position on the opposite flank.
