Prince William and Kate’s ‘actual purpose’ for silence over Harry and Meghan ‘betrayal’
Prince William and Kate Middleton have not publicly commented on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the UK, with a royal insider explaining the real reason behind their silence and noting that any reconciliation will be a ‘slow build’

Princess Kate and Prince William have reportedly maintained a public silence since Harry and Meghan’s return to the UK for a significant reason, according to reports.
The relationship between the so-called ‘Fab Four’ has been fraught for years, with claims that William and Harry are not even on speaking terms.
A source told People that the Prince and Princess of Wales have refrained from commenting to avoid any “knee-jerk reaction”.
The pair’s silence is due to the issue being a private matter, the source added.
They said: “They are watching this space. It’s private – they don’t feel the need to say anything or demonstrate anything outwardly.”
The source further suggested that if a reconciliation is in the offing, it “will be a slow build” as “there is a deep sense of betrayal.”

This follows multiple sources telling People last week that William will maintain “no contact” with Harry despite his relocation back to the UK after six years.
Tensions between Harry and William have escalated over recent years, fuelled by the publication of Harry’s memoir Spare and the broadcast of Harry and Meghan’s explosive interview with Oprah.
A palace insider noted that the couple has kept a low profile in recent years, hence it is not surprising they have yet to comment on the situation.
The Princess of Wales underwent cancer treatment in 2024, announcing her battle and subsequent remission in January 2025.
The source said: “They have suffered a lot. They have been dutiful, doing what they do well and keeping the family together.
“Anything else, from their point of view, isn’t critical.”
Another source added that Meghan and Kate, along with the brothers, are bound to cross paths at some point, particularly given the King’s clear position on William and Harry’s reunion.
“There are bound to be moments where their worlds overlap,” the insider said, “and everyone will be watching how those encounters unfold.”
