‘Tyre tracks’ noticed on Mars as unearthed NASA picture sparks alien life theories

UFO hunters claim a strange snap from the NASA archives which appears to show a set of tracks in the dust may be proof that we are not alone.
The photo from May 19, 2025, shows the barren landscape with rocky hills and distant mountains and what appears to be tire tracks in the distance.
The image was snapped by NASA’s Curiosity rover, which has been investigating whether the Red Planet could support microbial life for the last 14 years.
But eagle-eyed viewers claim the tracks from the iconic rover are completely different from a pattern seen last year, fuelling speculation that there may be intelligent life in outer space.

Another image taken just two minutes later caught the same pattern in the ground from a different angle, attracting a stampede of conspiracists who say this proves it was not a camera glitch or trick of the light.
The strange snap gained traction this week when a user called Kari Sivertzen shared it on X.
One observer replied to the X post: ‘It’s not the rover, at least what I think, since that would have left two tracks and the “pattern” doesn’t match other rover tracks.’
Another pointed out that the Curiosity has no centre line in its tire tracks, and the treads also feature a jagged pattern with large square blocks between them, leading users to question what it could be.
The image sparked theories just a month after another unearthed photo revealed a mysterious ‘jellyfish creature’ appearing to lurk on the Red Planet.
The image, which also came from the Curiosity rover, was taken back in August 2023 and seems to show a strange figure just beyond the horizon.

It was also posted by Kari Sivertzen on X and sparked debate on what the strange creature could be, with one user commenting “it’s the tentacle monster from the war of the worlds.”
Others claim that we see strange images in the Martian landscapes because the human brain naturally attempts to recognise familiar shapes, a phenomenon known as pareidolia, similar to how people see faces in clouds or animals in rock formations.
Despite the strange footage, the White House and NASA have always maintained that they have found nothing to suggest there is alien life out there.
NASA have frequently called strange and unexplainable objects in space photos ‘artifacts,’ and say they are due to corrupted data or unusual camera lighting.
