A fifth of Brits try to gas their busy schedules by scoffing extra protein
Health-conscious adults are looking to increase their protein intake over the next year, with half of adults saying more such snacks will appear in our supermarkets soon
Doritos are launching a range of protein snacks after a survey revealed a fifth of Brits are actively seeking high-protein options to fuel their busy schedules.
A health-conscious two-fifths (41%) of Brits said they plan to increase their intake over the next year, while half (49%) said they predict the essential macronutrient will pop up on every food aisle. The makers of Doritos have stepped in, claiming their protein chips will help fans pack a 10g hit of protein, without sacrificing on taste or texture when it launches this month.
The snack combines a light-and-crunchy blend of popped corn, soya and lentils in the flavours Sweet Chilli Chipotle and Sizzling Steak.
The Sweet Chilli Chipotle flavour is a fiery-sweet mash-up taking inspiration from the ‘swicy’ flavour trend sweeping social media, while Sizzling Steak flavour is a deep, smoky, savoury hit.
Popped rather than fried, the new range serves up 30% less fat versus regular tortilla chips and is also high fibre, providing a tasty and satisfying option.
Starting this September, snack-seekers can level up their lunch break by grabbing a single serve 48g bag, across Sainsbury’s, Asda Express, Waitrose, WHSmith, Boots, One Stop, Amazon, Ocado and TikTok Shop, with additional stockists following soon after. They can also pick up the new range as part of select nationwide retailer meal deals.
Cynthia Finke at Doritos said: “We know more people are looking for easy ways to add more protein to their diet through functional snacks, but don’t want to sacrifice great taste to get it.
“That’s why we’ve created Doritos Protein, a new chip made from popped lentils, soya and corn that delivers 10g of protein per bag, high fibre and 30% less fat, while still bringing the bold flavour and satisfying crunch that people expect from Doritos. This is the new shape of protein.”
