Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola secured an impressive 1-0 win against Bournemouth on Sunday and now he has been tipped for a double south coast swoop.
The Cherries had not lost at home since January 3 – a 3-2 reverse at the hands of Premier League champions Arsenal. But their former manager Iraola, the man responsible for the bulk of that undefeated streak, brought about the end of that record with a rock solid defensive display topped off by an Alexander Isak strike.
It lifted the Reds to sixth in the table ahead of the first international break of the season. And during a long three weeks without club football, Iraola has already been backed to bolster his squad by recruiting former favourites of his. Iraola backed to recruit former stars
Jamie Carragher endorsed the idea of Iraola targeting former club Bournemouth to secure Alex Scott and Rayan.
The Spaniard enjoyed a remarkable three-year spell on the south coast and steered the club to European qualification last season for the first time, with the Cherries pair playing a pivotal role in the accomplishment, reports the Mirror.
Scott, 23, and Rayan, 20, were both connected with departures in the summer, with the Englishman reportedly attracting attention from Manchester United and Arsenal.
The Brazil international had been mooted as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah at Anfield, but both stayed at the Vitality Stadium.

Carragher suggested on Sky Sports that Iraola might exploit his connections to lure them away from Bournemouth. The Reds legend said of Scott: “I think he’s a wonderful player.
“There was a lot of interest in him in the summer and because Liverpool have a former Bournemouth manager, you almost think: ‘will there be a link or will there be a couple of players moving that way?’
“I thought Rayan was fantastic last season as well. It will have been really good for him to get a goal in midweek because he probably hasn’t been himself at the start of the season. There are some fantastic players here at Bournemouth.”
Bournemouth will reportedly demand a minimum of £100million to consider selling Scott in future transfer windows, while Rayan is said to have a £130m release clause that becomes active in 2027.
Shearer heaps praise on Barcola

Bradley Barcola became Liverpool’s second-most costly signing ever last month when arriving from Paris Saint-Germain in a £123million deal.
The 23-year-old has yet to open his account in terms of goals and assists, but that hasn’t prevented Alan Shearer from tipping Barcola to quickly become a crowd favourite at Anfield.
The Frenchman has featured in the starting XI for the past two Premier League matches and has drawn acclaim from the Newcastle legend.
The England icon reckons the winger can develop into a “complete player” – but only if he adds more goals to his repertoire.
He told Betfair: “When Barcola started last week against Fulham, I thought he was brilliant. There is no doubt he’s got huge ability. He needs to add more goals to his game to be complete.
“But in terms of excitement and getting people off their seat, he’ll do that in abundance.”
