Bitterly cold weather could be just days away, with forecast models suggesting temperatures will dip below 10C across every part of the UK at some point in October

Britain could be hit by a harsh -1C Arctic blast as fresh weather maps turn icy blue right across the nation. Temperatures are set to plummet dramatically on Monday, October 12.
Around 11 regions could endure the most severe conditions as the frigid air moves across the UK. The newest WXCharts maps reveal the most bitter weather focused over Scotland, where temperatures might drop below freezing.
The chart for 12pm on October 12 shows temperatures plunging to lows of -1C across sections of the central Highlands and Cairngorms, with much of the neighbouring region also lingering around freezing. The harsher conditions might also deliver snow to parts of Scotland, with separate WXCharts maps indicating areas around Inverness could witness some snow on the ground on October 12.

Meanwhile, regions further south, including around Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Yorkshire, are shown experiencing rain. The Met Office’s long-range forecast also suggests “some chilly nights” during the period, although it says temperatures are expected to remain above average overall, reports the Express.
The newest WXCharts maps reveal temperatures steadily climbing further south. Sections of Cumbria and Lancashire might witness temperatures of around 3C, while much of Wales and the Midlands might experience lows of roughly 4C to 6C.
A separate WXCharts map also reveals a large swathe of colder air sweeping across Britain and northern Europe. Here, the coldest air is once again focused over North West Scotland, with the blue shading reaching southwards across much of England and Wales.

Given that these maps are projecting almost two weeks into the future, the precise temperatures and regions affected could still shift as fresh forecasts come in.
