Liam Gallagher and Richard Keys have been embroiled in a vicious war of words – with the Oasis frontman labelling the TV host a “hairy goblin” after Manchester City’s guilty verdict.

Manchester City were found guilty of 114 out of 115 financial breaches of the Premier League rules on Tuesday afternoon, after it emerged they were involved in “sham” sponsorship deals to artificially inflate their income by more than £900million. City, who deny all wrongdoing and maintain they are innocent, are expected to challenge the verdict of the independent commission.

Gallagher, 54, a City superfan along with his brother Noel, 59, has been vocal in his support of the club, sharing on X: “The PL are f***** relegate them fine them and throw away the key the s********.”

One fan replied asking if he’d seen 69-year-old Keys’ recent comments on his podcast. The person asked Gallagher: “Did you know old hairy hands, Richard Keys has been calling you a spunk bubble?”

Speaking on Keys and Gray Unleashed, the disgraced ex-Sky Sports host said: “I am astounded that I’ve been the only voice in the media for the last eight years that has consistently spoken on this subject.

“And I have been abused, morning and night, by some fairly high-profile individuals, Liam Gallagher being one of those, who has refereed to be consistently as a ‘spunk bubble’,” which prompted his broadcasting partner Andy Gray to burst out laughing.

However, Keys continued, this time addressing Gallagher, as he said: “Well, who is the spunk bubble now.”

And the clip was seen by Gallagher, who hit back on X. He said: “F*** him the hairy little goblin!” While, in a separate post, he added: “He’s a HAIRY LITTLE GOBLIN S*** C***!”

The Oasis frontman has been vocal about the decision, telling one fan he was “brainwashed” for “thinking we’re getting relegated”. He also added: “F*** the PL they’re the cheats!”

Sharing the verdict on Tuesday, the Premier League said City had “arranged sham contracts” – which misrepresented the true agreement between the parties – with a number of its commercial partners, as well as relying on “sham” agreements with others, to artificially inflate the club’s revenues and reduce its costs over a nine-year period from 2009 to 2018.

A statement said: “The club filed misstated accounts and concealed the true state of its finances from its auditors and football regulators.”

They added throughout the investigation City “committed multiple breaches of its duties of co-operation and utmost good faith towards the league”.

Premier League CEO Richard Masters added “the club systematically broke Premier League Rules for nearly a decade” and the verdict “vindicates the Premier League’s decision to pursue this case against Manchester City”.

City said they were “disappointed and surprised by the opinion of the Premier League Commission” and they will be “relentless, and where necessary proactive, in any and all appropriate regulatory and legal forums”.
