With Christmas just around the corner, plenty of Brits are starting to stock up on presents for the festive season. However, knowing where to start can always be a daunting task, which led me to consult with Smyth Toys Superstore.
The toy giant provided a list of the top Christmas presents for 2026, which included a range of options from football practice to Pokemon toys. From the list, I tried two options which have been selected as the biggest trends for this year – and it proved a huge success in my household.
If you’re looking to buy for a football-obsessed youngster who’s forever booting balls around the lounge, the Kick-About Interactive Football Training Game is an absolute revelation. It essentially transforms simple target practice into an addictive, high-speed arcade challenge.
This toy is perfect for budding football stars
Kids can attempt too kick a ball through a series of targets.
The setup couldn’t be easier – just lean it against a wall or door and you’re all set. The 60-second timer is a stroke of genius as it ensures sessions are brief, competitive, and full of energy without losing their focus.
There are two primary modes to keep things fresh. Training Mode uses fixed LED sequences to assist beginners in honing their control, rhythm, and accuracy.
Once they’ve mastered that, switching to Challenge Mode randomises the illuminated arrows and brings the central target into play, truly testing their reaction speed and precision. Plus, having the electronic scorer right there stops the need to keep track.
It’s engaging, encourages them to stay active indoors or outdoors, and genuinely aids improvement. You really can’t go wrong.
Secondly, I got my hands on another offering set to be very popular with youngsters. If you have a PAW Patrol enthusiast at home, the Ultimate Dino Hauler Motorised Vehicle is sure to be a total hit. It combines two elements that the youngsters today can’t get enough of – large rescue trucks and dinosaurs!
PAW Patrol is always a hit
What makes this truck stand out is the motorised feature. Push the top button, and it actually drives forward on its huge, heavy-duty wheels-perfect for rolling over living room rug “terrain.” It also includes a built-in projectile launcher to blast clear any pretend obstacles during rescue missions.
The box comes packed with value right out of the gate, including three Pup Figures: Chase, Marshall, and Skye. Three dinosaurs to be rescued and hauled and two projectiles for target play.
There’s plenty of practical storage built in, too. The front cockpit opens to fit two pups, while the large hinged cargo bay in the back holds the dinosaurs or extra rescue gear. Plus, the required 6 AA batteries are included in the box, so kids can start playing immediately.
It’s sturdy, packed with interactive features, and offers endless imaginative rescue storytelling for little adventurers aged 3 and up.
It will be a very happy Christmas with these offerings.
