Naked News presenter skydives ‘fully nude’ however admits ‘it is chilly with no garments’
Eila Adams, 38, is obsessed with extreme sports and says its very important that she does them without any clothes on, admitting it does make skydiving a little chilly
A naked news presenter says she’s obsessed with extreme sports – as long as she can do them in the buff. Eila Adams, who has presented Naked News since 2009, has done everything from skydiving to camel riding completely starkers.
The 38-year-old, from Toronto, Canada, has over 60,000 followers on social media @flexapeeler2. She said: “I went skydiving naked in 2016 and I was freezing. I did it in the summer but when you’re so high in the air it’s still really cold, especially with no clothes on.
“I was cold, violently hungover and about to jump out of a plane naked – but there was no way I was cancelling a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Luckily I had a lot of adrenaline rushing through me, so I don’t think I was really paying attention to much going on.
“We had just celebrated a milestone – it was the 15th anniversary of Naked News and there was a major party that weekend in Chicago, then I had to skydive on the Monday.
“I was definitely feeling the effects of the weekend, but once I was there, I knew I had to go through with it.” Fitness fan Eila has also presented a Naked News segment called Flex Appeal for 16 years, where she performs workout sessions nude.
She said: “I’ve also done naked stand-up comedy in front of a huge crowd, naked football, naked mechanical bull riding, naked camel riding.
“They walk with a kind of waddle, so you’re moving from side to side. They were cute – but they stink. I’ve pretty much done everything naked at this point.
“I’ve played football naked on a nude beach in Toronto. There were teams of four against four and it was a group of naked women playing. I’ve also done topless stand-up twice, once at Yuk Yuk’s and once at Comedy Bar in Toronto. Both were for Naked News and they were totally nerve-wracking.
“I genuinely think getting on stage and doing stand-up was even scarier than skydiving. At least when you jump out of a plane, you don’t have an audience waiting to see if you’re funny.
“I’ve even done stand-up completely naked at a nudist resort in Palm Springs. There were two other naked male comedians performing as well and we had a great time.
“You’d think after 16 years of getting naked on camera I wouldn’t get nervous anymore, but apparently all it takes is a microphone and an audience. Pretty much anything that you’ve done clothed, I’ve probably done it naked.
“The thing that’s on the top of my bucket list, naked or clothed, is to do a hot air balloon ride. I’ve been dying to go to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in New Mexico.
“The camel ride was weird; I didn’t realise how much they stink. There was a seat, so I wasn’t barebacking it, but I didn’t have any clothes on.”
Eila’s memorable camel ride happened during a travel segment at a swingers’ club in Lanzarote years ago. She said: “Europe is so much more open to nudity than North America.
“I’ve been in regular nightclubs and asked to dance naked on stage and the staff are fine with it; that’s just how Europe is. It’s a different mindset, one I personally love.”
Eila once presented Naked News alongside her mum Robin in 2011, when Robin was 47. She said: “She said she was proud and not surprised since I hated wearing clothes when I was a kid. I have a segment I film topless in public called Naked in the Streets, and that’s always a big draw for a crowd. People stare and snap photos of me.
“When I first started, I found that embarrassing, but now it’s almost like a superpower because it’s so many people’s biggest fear to be naked in a crowd.”
Eila says it’s “super rare” for her interviewees to strip off, although they’re always welcome to do so. She said: “It has happened in my career five times, so it’s like a true unicorn moment. Unless, of course, I’m covering a swingers’ event or a nudist retreat, then people are definitely more willing to be on camera.
Being the only person undressed doesn’t faze Eila. She said: “For me it’s always just been so natural and normal. People definitely have questions – lots of staring, photos, the usual. No matter your age or body, I think we all look better naked anyway.”
