Liverpool information: £47m switch goal ‘tracked’ as ex-Red might full shock ‘betrayal’
Liverpool are on a winning run under boss Andoni Iraola and they are looking towards further improving their squad in the January transfer window
Liverpool have bounced back from a controversial defeat to Manchester City with three wins in a row under Andoni Iraola. And now the Premier League giants are looking towards further additions to the Spanish manager’s promising young squad.
A thrilling 4-3 midweek victory against Villarreal in the Champions League offered fresh evidence that progress is being made, although there’s still plenty of graft ahead, following impressive wins away against LASK in the same competition and at Brentford, when Liverpool ended the Bees’ long unbeaten run at home.
The Reds face a two-week gap before their next Champions League outing and now switch focus to domestic business. That begins with Sunday’s encounter against high flying Brighton, before hosting Chelsea at home in the Carabao Cup. Here’s all the latest news from Anfield.

Trent Alexander-Arnold tipped for switch to Liverpool rivals
Premier League legend Kyle Walker has suggested Trent Alexander-Arnold could make a Premier League return down the line.
Yet he can’t see the right-back heading back to Anfield given how his exit unfolded, reports the Mirror, and has suggested the worst possible scenario for the Reds.
Alexander-Arnold, 28, hasn’t made the impact many anticipated at Real Madrid as he battles for playing time under Jose Mourinho, having spurned the chance to remain at the Merseyside giants and one day even wear the captain’s armband.
And having run down his Anfield contract, leaving supporters feeling betrayed, Walker questions whether the player would be welcomed back at his childhood club.
“Why not?” he told talkSPORT when asked if he would see Alexander-Arnold back in England’s top flight. “Can he go back to Liverpool with the way that he left? I’m not too sure.
“Do I see him at another club? He’s got to go to one of the big ones. Manchester United [or] Man City [for example].”
If Alexander-Arnold reckoned he was already in hot water with certain Liverpool fans, a switch to bitter rivals United or cash cheats City would only inflame matters further.
The England star is still competing with summer arrival Denzel Dumfries for a regular starting spot at Real, but might be tempted to change clubs once more if circumstances don’t pick up shortly.
A transfer to City seems virtually out of the question given the club’s ongoing predicament surrounding their Premier League financial rule violations. That said, United could certainly benefit from someone with his quality on the right flank of their backline, but the move would potentially destroy what is left of Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool legacy.
Liverpool ‘tracking’ Camara
An emerging tussle in Liverpool’s transfer plans might pit them against former Reds midfielder Xabi Alonso.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed Iraola’s outfit are “tracking” Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, 22, who nearly sealed a Chelsea move during the summer window.
The Blues were apparently on the verge of landing the Senegal international before the deal collapsed on deadline day. Camara had even supposedly undergone a medical ahead of signing for Chelsea before the £47.1million transfer fell apart.
What Chelsea missed out on could become Liverpool’s opportunity, as speculation linking the two sides persists. Though that scenario might trigger a face-off between Alonso and his former club should Chelsea opt to resurrect their interest.
The potential switch was connected to Folarin Balogun’s collapsed transfer to Everton, with Monaco requiring funds from player sales at that point. Ultimately, neither footballer secured a Premier League move and stayed put on the French Riviera.
To his credit, Camara addressed the situation last month, confirming he’d put it behind him: “There was a possibility I could leave. It didn’t go through at the last minute and that’s part of football. I’ve turned the page and am focusing on the season.”
That’s exactly the sort of level-headed approach Iraola might value should he commit resources to overhauling his midfield in 2027. And provided Camara isn’t set on joining Chelsea, Liverpool could potentially step in to secure his services.
