Woman jealous as she spots one factor youngsters can do on flights that adults cannot
A TikToker was left mortified and jealous as she spotted children lying down fast asleep on a flight using luggage as pillows, while adults are too tall to enjoy the same comfort
Air travel for grown-ups is typically a rather uncomfortable affair, naturally, unless you’re fortunate enough to be seated in first class enjoying exquisite meals and wine throughout your journey. Nevertheless, the typical traveller isn’t in such a luxurious position and is far more likely to find themselves squashed in the middle seat, wondering if their fellow passengers will be generous enough to share the armrests.
Yet, one woman highlighted that whenever young kids travel with family members, they’re essentially “in first class”, jesting that they don’t realise “how good they’ve got it”.
TikToker @elkekahler filmed herself during the flight, appearing stunned, as she turned the camera to reveal youngsters sprawled across a seat, using their luggage as makeshift pillows to maximise their comfort.
The children were tucked under blankets and sound asleep – quite different from the typical adult experience, who understand just how challenging it can be to catch some rest whilst airborne.
She swivelled the camera back to capture her own horrified and envious expression as the little ones managed to stretch out and slumber peacefully, reports the Mirror.
Accompanying the footage, she brilliantly chose Fergie’s track ‘Glamorous’, featuring the words “we’re flying first class, up in the sky, poppin’ champagne, livin’ my life in the fast lane”.
It’s fair to say these youngsters were absolutely living their dream when they managed to sleep soundly and arrive in an entirely different country without any hassle. One person humorously requested a “tutorial” on how to replicate the feat, although they acknowledged that an adult trying it might end up with their feet dangling off the seat and constantly being bumped by the trolley service.
“They’re gonna hate it when they get older and have to sit on aeroplanes normally,” one woman wisely noted.
“I’m 19 and still do this,” another woman confessed, attributing her ability to continue the practice to her short stature. But can you imagine attempting it only to discover you’re too tall?
The embarrassment would be palpable.
“My mum prepared the same for my sister and me when I was younger. I can confirm that it’s the comfiest ever,” a TikTok user bragged.
A flight attendant chimed in: “I used to operate this type of aircraft for Emirates, and we would always have to tell them not to do this because of safety.”
Referring to the blankets, she further cautioned: “There is a high risk that you’re not allowed to bring these onto the plane.”
While it appears as though a similar setup could be fashioned using a suitcase and a pillow, it remains unclear exactly how they achieved it.
