New Epstein photos released: What you need to know
- Democrats on the US House Oversight Committee released 68 new photos without context from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate.
- The images show extracts from Vladimir Nabokov’s controversial novel ‘Lolita’ scribbled on an individual’s body, including a foot. It is unclear if the different body parts shown belong to the same person.
- Other photos show Epstein with groups of women and a map of an island with a separate image showing a WhatsApp chat listing the details of a teenage girl from Russia. Alongside the photos was a text about a $1000 payment for “some girls today” for “J”.
- Prominent figures like Microsoft founder Bill Gates and linguist Noam Chomsky also appear; there is no suggestion that appearing in the photos implies any wrongdoing.
- Gates has called his time with Epstein a “huge mistake,” stating they met for philanthropy discussions that did not lead to a project. Chomsky stated that Epstein assisted him with money transfers that did not involve any of Epstein’s money.
- The release comes before today’s deadline for the Department of Justice to release all Epstein documents.
