A mother and her two children have tragically died in a house fire on Boxing Day in Brimscombe Hill, near Stroud, Gloucestershire Police said
A mother and her two children, aged four and seven, were killed in a house fire in the early hours of Boxing Day in Brimscombe Hill, near Stroud, Gloucestershire Police said.
One person was able to get out and was taken to hospital after the fire broke out at around 3am.
Dr Simon Opher, Labour MP for Stroud, said the fire is “really shocking at Christmas time”.
He told the BBC: “It’s just really tragic for our local community,” he said.
“I know at these sort of times Stroud really pulls together and supports neighbours, and anyone who knew the people in the house.”
The heartbreaking news comes after we reported how tributes have been paid to a schoolgirl who died in a devastating house fire over the Christmas break. Lily Kennedy, 13 was killed after flames engulfed her home in Hamstreet, Ashford, Kent on Sunday lunchtime.
She was described by heartbroken relatives as a “princess” who was “always smiley.” Neighbours desperately tried to enter the home but were ‘beaten back’ by the spreading flames, which are said to have started downstairs, the Mail reports.
The fire service said “an intense fire” had spread throughout the semi-detached property when firefighters arrived shortly after 12.10pm on Sunday. Six fire engines and a height vehicle were sent to tackle the blaze.
