Venezuela explosions UPDATES as Donald Trump-ordered air strikes feared

A series of unexplained blasts have torn through Venezuela‘s capital this morning, with residents pouring out onto the streets and reporting at least seven explosions and aircraft flying low over the city of Caracas.
The reports came as tensions remain high following escalating threats from Donald Trump towards Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro. Loud noises were heard across the city and smoke was seen rising from at least one location.
The cause of the blasts have not yet been confirmed. The first round of explosions occurred at around 1:50am local time, according to CNN, with no immediate explanation from authorities.

This is what Caracas looks like right now… another country under attack by U.S. imperialism, without a single prior provocation. Venezuela has never killed a single American citizen.

Strikes come after growing threats from Donald Trump
This morning’s explosions come after Donald Trump said drone strikes against alleged Venezuelan drug boats could soon move to land. The US President said in an interview on WABC just days ago that US forces have already began conducting land operations in the South American country.
“I don’t know if you read or you saw, they have a big plant or a big facility where they send the – where the ships come from,” Trump said during a call-in with host John Catsimatidis on December 26. “Two nights ago we knocked that out – so we hit them very hard,” he said.
Venezuela’s Ministry of Defense reportedly struck
Fort Tiuna – the site of the Venezuelan ministry of defense, is said to be among the areas hit, while an area of southern Caracas, close to a major military base, has been without electricity.
