Seven-year-old lady amongst six folks useless in mass taking pictures as cops share chilling element
A mass shooting has left at least six dead in Mississippi, including a girl aged only seven, as cops reveal the chilling link between the killer and his victims
A crazed gunman’s rampage in Mississippi has left a death toll of at least six victims after he shot his way through three separate homes in the small town of West Point.
The horrific killing spree on Friday included a girl aged only seven. But police have revealed a further chilling aspect of the massacre – four of the victims were related to the 24-year-old alleged murderer.
Tragically, the young girl, found with a gunshot wound to her head, is understood to be the second cousin of the chief suspect, identified as Daricka M Moore by Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott at a press conference.
Moore, who targeted the rural community of Cedarbluff, faces a first-degree murder charge that could be upgraded to capital murder, Scott said, according to The Sun.
“I will say at this point, we do not know a motive for these acts,” the sheriff said.
Authorities said the first shooting was at a home on David Hill Road, where three people were killed. The next attack was on Blake Road. Investigators allege Moore put a gun to the head of a young girl but weren’t sure whether the gun misfired or if the shooting was deliberate. Another young child and their mother were in the house at the time.
Sheriff Scott said that Moore then allegedly fled the scene in a stolen pickup truck to target another home. Two men, Barry and Samuel Bradley, were found dead in this house with gunshot wounds to the head.
Fleeing the scene, Moore was picked up by cops in the stolen truck. He was booked into the Clay County jail before dawn Saturday, records show.
Online court records in Clay County show Moore has no previous criminal charges. His first court date is scheduled for January 12.
Clay County District Attorney Scott Colom swore to pursue a capital murder case against Moore.
“This is the type of case where the death penalty is going to have to be really looked at,” he said.
“We have to continue the investigation. You have to go through with mitigation experts. There’s going to be mental evaluations done, but after all that is all said and done, if he’s eligible for the death penalty, the district attorney’s office is going to go for the death penalty.”
