Tottenham star stretchered off with ‘severe leg damage’ as fears over profession made
Tottenham defender Ben Davies was stretchered off with a ‘serious leg injury’ against West Ham.
Davies slid into a tackle on Jarrod Bowen just 15 minutes into the game against West Ham. But the Welshman came off worse as he required oxygen and his leg was placed in a brace.
Bowen emerged unscathing but the 32-year-old, who has endured a nightmare time with injuries in recent years, required emergency treatment from the medical team.
Davies was replaced by Djed Spence after suffering several minutes of treatment, with Spurs trailing 1-0 at home through a Crysencio Summerville goal.
Supporters took to X to send their best wishes to Davies. One user said: “Absolutely gutted for Ben Davies. Looks like a really bad injury.”
A second feared: “Devastated for Ben Davies. Could be his last ever game for Spurs, and potentially missing a World Cup. It’s a cruel world.”
A third wrote: “Really sad to see Ben Davies get stretchered off, probably his last game for the club. Wishing him the best recovery”. While another concerned fan added: “Could be his last game if that’s the case…”
Davies is out of contract at the end of the season and could have played his final game for Spurs if he were sidelined for the rest of the season.
His place in Wales’ World Cup squad is also in doubt ahead of the tournament in North America this summer.
Davies was making just his fifth appearance of the season and his second start in successive games after playing 90 minutes in the FA Cup defeat against Aston Villa.
The half-time whistle was met by heavy booing by the home crowd with West Ham leading as the pressure continues to build on Thomas Frank.
