Brits lacking out on £13,879,481 as main lottery prizes stay unclaimed – one deadline is days away

Millions of pounds are up for grabs as numerous major lottery prizes remain unclaimed – however the National Lottery has warned if winners don’t claim their prize within six months they’ll miss out

The National Lottery is urging Brits to check their tickets as some of their biggest prizes have not been claimed yet with almost £14 million up for grabs.

Numerous potential millionaires are running about the UK clueless to the fact they could be on the receiving end of a life changing sum of money. In total £13,879,481 is on the cards to be claimed before the nearest deadline date on February 11.

However the National Lottery has warned any unclaimed prizes six months past the draw date will be removed. A statement released on the National lottery’s website has reminded Brits of the looming deadline. The reminder reads: “We hope a lucky player comes forward in time but if a valid claim is not received within 180 days (around 6 months) of the draw date, the prize and any interest earned on it will go to benefit National Lottery good causes across the UK.”

The development comes after the National Lottery created a “millionaire a day” at the end of last month as 365 people bagged stunning a six figure win.

The lottery dished out £702million between the big prize winners throughout 2025, with another 757 banking prizes of more than £50,000. A total of £4.5billion was paid out last year, with the biggest win being £83million as well as four EuroMillions jackpots won in the UK.

People in Manchester and Birmingham were the luckiest, with both regions each reaching double digit big wins. Carers, social and charity workers were named the most winning professions. That was followed by drivers, builders, team managers and workers across engineering and manufacturing.

Cancer was crowned the luckiest star sign, followed by Aries and Scorpio close behind. The luckiest Lotto number was 09, followed by 42, and then 38, with 6, 11, 33, 36 and 59 equal fourth. While 28, 44 and 56 were the most drawn as the Bonus Ball.

On EuroMillions 41 was top of the main balls, followed by 29 and 42 equal second, and then in joint third 8, 24, 45 and 49. As a Lucky Star it was 5 and 2 which appeared the most. Some of last year’s winners were James Clarkson, a 20-year-old trainee gas engineer from Carlisle, saw his future transformed overnight after winning a Lotto jackpot of £7.5 million.
