Man Utd information: Shock Patrick Dorgu alternative as Michael Carrick instructed £22m switch payment
Manchester United are targeting signings as they look to strengthen their squad for a top-four Premier League push under new interim manager Michael Carrick
Manchester United are sitting pretty in the Premier League top four after victories over Manchester City and Arsenal.
With Michael Carrick now at the helm, the Red Devils are targeting a Champions League spot this season. Securing a top four finish – or top five if England gets an additional place – would massively boost United’s summer transfer kitty. Despite offering no European competition, the club spent more than £200million last summer, bringing in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens.
Currently, a fresh midfielder tops their shopping list, with Elliot Anderson thought to be their prime target. But now that Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation has been ditched, there’s greater opportunity for a new left winger to join at Old Trafford. Here’s all the latest news from Old Trafford.

Shock winger targeted
The Mirror reports United might pursue AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, with the Italian club willing to let the 26-year-old Portuguese winger leave.
The Daily Mail also reports Chelsea’s Tyrique George has surfaced as a potential wide attacking choice for the summer. The 19-year-old has featured in and around the first team at Stamford Bridge for two seasons.
He scored three goals in 11 outings last term. But his playing time has been further reduced this campaign after the signings of Estevao, Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho.
Carrick has deployed Patrick Dorgu at left wing with tremendous effect in his opening two matches, but the former Lecce sensation is now facing a spell on the treatment table.
George is understood to be available for departure from Chelsea and could be secured for approximately £22m.
Martinez interest rekindled
Prior to Lammens’ arrival, United had spent the entire summer pursuing Emiliano Martinez.
Amorim was believed to be eager to bring the Aston Villa shot-stopper, 33, to the club, before the choice was made to secure Lammens instead.
Now, CaughtOffside is re-evaluating its goalkeeping options, with Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir anticipated to depart on permanent deals.
Martinez is a name that has re-emerged in discussions, and Villa would be willing to part with him for roughly £40million.
The Argentina international’s deal at Villa runs until 2029, putting Unai Emery’s side in a strong bargaining position.
