Birmingham machete assault sees two teenagers injured as ‘blood on pavement’

A brutal attack on a busy UK street has left two teenagers with machete injuries following an alleged disorder in last night (February 7). The unrest unfolded on outside a shop, Boss Mart 3, on Stratford Road in Shirley at around 9pm.

It is understood West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended and took two boys, aged 15 and 14, to hospital following the incident. The attack is believed to be targeted, according to police..

A third boy was punched in the disorder but did not require hospital treatment, West Midlands Police have said. A 14-year-old boy has been arrested a on suspicion of wounding with intent.

The owner of Cleopatra’s Kitchen, next door to Boss Mart 3, has had to clear blood away from their front door following the incident.

Speaking of one of the victims, he told BirminghamLive: “He was in a bad way.”

A local said “I don’t know what the world is coming to” as another added: “I don’t understand the new generation. This is terrifying.”

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We’ve arrested a teenage boy after three others were attacked in Shirley.

We were called to the Stratford Road in Shirley at around 9pm yesterday. Two boys, aged 15 and 14, were taken to hospital with injuries which we believe were caused by a machete.

“Their injuries are not life-threatening but both remain in hospital for treatment. Another teenage boy, aged 15, was also assaulted after being punched but did not go to hospital.

“We’ve arrested a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of wounding with intent. He remains in custody as we continue with our enquiries. We believe the attack was targeted and we’ll have extra officers in the area today to provide reassurance to the community.

“We’re investigating and would urge people with witnesses or people with information such as dashcam or mobile phone footage to contact us on 101 quoting crime number 20/140175/26.
