This bougie Clapham eatery is a ‘slice’ of Made In Chelsea with out the value tag
If you’re a Made In Chelsea fan, chances are you wish you could live life the very rich reality stars’ shoes – well, now you can get a taste for yourself at a fraction of the cost
This restaurant certainly wouldn’t look out of place as the backdrop for a dramatic scene between two frenemies on Channel 4’s Made In Chelsea.
Nestled right on Clapham Junction’s high street, Lockes is a neighbourhood cocktail bar with an upmarket vibe open way into the night, and as we discovered, also the ideal way to get a taste of the high life without breaking the bank.
The Pink Colada, a secret off-menu tipple personally recommended by our server, was definitely our highlight. Lockes’ take on the classic cocktail with a twist of strawberry made for a gorgeous baby pink colour with a creamy flavour to die for – like a grown-up milkshake!
We also sipped on the Strawberry & Basil Smash, a refreshing gin-based signature cocktail, and the vodka-centred Elderflower & Pear served in a fancy coupe glass.
If those don’t sound like your cup of tea then Lockes also serves a wide selection of beer and wine to choose from – we just can’t resist a fun, fruity beverage and their offerings definitely hit the spot. While sipping our drinks we eagerly awaited the main event, which was soon presented in front of us on a rustic wooden pizza board.
There’s nothing more timeless or more classic than the humble margherita, so we kept it simple and opted for one to share.
Priced at £13 and topped with rich San Marzano tomatoes, fior di latte mozzarella, basil and extra virgin olive oil, our pizza had an excellent sauce-to-dough ratio with a thin base, a wood-fired crust and a great crunch. The cheese literally melted in our mouths, but the chilli oil and hot honey dips really took it to the next level.
We also tried the veggie bruschetta and you sure get a lot of bang for your buck. Served on homemade bread and slathered with aubergine puree, garlic, onion and roasted peppers, this absolute beast of a dish is ironically labelled as a “small plate,” although this could definitely be a main for some.
Lockes is the perfect place for you and your socialite friends as you live out your best Made In Chelsea inspired life, whether that’s catching up with pals, spreading the latest gossip in town or even “accidentally” bumping into an ex.
Why not check it out and line your stomach before another night of mischief in Clapham? (We’re looking at you, Infernos…)
