M6 Toll horror after coach passenger stabbed and man arrested for ‘tried homicide’
A coach passenger was stabbed in the shoulder on the M6 Toll near Cannock in Staffordshire, with a 41-year-old man from Northumberland arrested following the incident
A man has been arrested after a coach passenger was stabbed on the M6 Toll motorway. The shocking event unfolded near Cannock at approximately 8.15am today, Sunday, February 15, according to Staffordshire Police.
The victim was stabbed in the shoulder whilst the coach was travelling southbound between junctions T8 and T7. Authorities have confirmed that the man’s condition is stable and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
A 41-year-old man from Northumberland was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody, reports Birmingham Live. The M6 Toll was temporarily shut down as police investigated the incident but has since been reopened to traffic.
In an official statement, the police said: “A man has been arrested after another man was stabbed on a coach on the M6 Toll near to Cannock.
“We were called at 8.15am this morning to reports a man had been stabbed in the shoulder on the M6 Toll southbound between T8 and T7.
“The man was taken to the hospital, his condition is stable, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
“A 41-year-old man, from Northumberland, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and remains in custody.
“The M6 Toll was closed for a short time but has been reopened.”
Traffic data monitor Inrix reported: “Delays on M6 Southbound before J8 M5 coming from the M54. Travel time is 10 minutes.”
