‘He is 12lb properly in and a handicap snip’ – Jason Heavey’s Friday ideas

The Daily Star Chief Tipster is in good form with five winning naps in the past week and on Friday he has singled out a horse at Doncaster who looks remarkably well treated at the weights

APIARIST (4.53, trb) can provide a sting in the tail for bookies at Lingfield on Friday.

Kevin Ryan’s five-year-old has solid form on the all-weather with three of his four career wins coming on the sand.

He caught the eye on his first start of 2026 when staying on well to be fourth at Newcastle last month after suffering a troubled passage.

Apiarist rocks up in the BetMGM AWC Trial Handicap, which is a competitive class two affair, off a reasonable rating of 96.

But his chance is enhanced by the talented Jack Callan taking off 5lb, and from a good draw he is fancied to weave a passage and arrive fast and late.

FAST TRACK HARRY (3.12) has won first time out in 2024 and 2025 and is trained by Clive Cox whose only two runners have both won in the past fortnight.

The speedy son of Harry Angel looks on a nice enough rating to take the Midnite AWC Sprint Trial Handicap.

At Wolverhampton tonight look out for GEMMARI (7.45, nb) who is progressive and has won three of his last five starts.

He bolted up by six lengths at Chelmsford in January under today’s rider Sean Levey and despite an 8lb hike in the weights he has a fine chance of scoring again.

BEATTIE IS BACK (5.45) went into the tracker after showing promise on his latest run and although he is a tricky ride he is up to going close at the West Midlands track.

At Newbury WYNENOT (3.00) will appreciate the drying ground in the OLBG Chasing Excellence Novices’ Chase.

She looks to have plenty of scope over fences and can make the most of the weight she gets from Miami Magic.

RATH GAUL HILL (4.08) won off a rating of 118 last spring so the fact he is running off 116 at his favourite track is a huge plus. He is overpriced at 12-1.

MR GRIFFITHS (3.57, nap) is the strongest fancy of the day at Doncaster.

He has shown boundless stamina in winning at Fontwell and Warwick.

The latter victory came in a boys’ race so he gets to race off the same handicap mark. He is 12lb well in at the weights and looks like a handicap snip.
