Page 3 icons turned ‘attractive John Motsons’ for Football Manager launch pre-‘woke nonsense’

Football Manager once added some startling sex appeal to the iconic computer game when they dressed some Page 3 icons as legendary commentators with a twist at Craven Cottage

Football manager has never really been the sexiest game – partners of addicted players often roll their eyes at the endless scrolling of spreadsheets and staring at computer screens long into the night.

However, back in “pre-woke era” of 2005 Football Manager dared to change that. And ahead of the launch of their latest title, the higher-ups decided to rope in Page 3 icons Leilani Dowding and Michelle Marsh plus blonde stunner Alex Best.

The two glamour models, Leilani and Michelle, both wowed in the blue bikinis, showing off their figures – while Alex was dressed in white. All three, however, also channelled their inner John Motson with sheepskin coats and flat caps as they held the game.

The image went viral again on social media this week, and was even picked up by one of the stunners in the photo: Leilani. Sharing the picture she joked: “Me 21 years ago! Where has time gone?”

And one cheeky fan responded: “That wouldn’t be allowed today – loved the late 90’s and early noughties – my uni days – loaded and lads mags, smoking in pubs and cheap beer – wonderful days!”

“Back when we used to be a proper country,” a second replied. And another added: “Why did the woke have to come and destroy the genius idea of using beautiful women to market things?”

Leilani might be the most iconic of the trio. The stunner flaunted her beauty on the global stage when she took part in the Miss Universe pageant after winning Miss Great Britain 1998.

And she also posed in the pages of FHM and Maxim as well as on Page 3. The stunner then transitioned onto television screens, where she starred on Tough Love Miami and The Real Housewives of Cheshire.

Leilani was even a WAG at points; she was engaged to former Wimbledon and Northern Ireland defender Mark Williams while also saying yes to former Arsenal attacker Jérémie Aliadière after her relationship with Williams ended.

Michelle, on the other hand, got her big break at the Daily Star where she won our Search for a Babe contest – one year after she finished runner-up in The Sun’s National Cleavage Week.

She would bare all on Page 3 as a “Star Babe” – as well as posing in the pages of Loaded, Nuts, Maxim, Zoo and Playboy. Michelle has also appeared on reality TV and even tried her hand at singing.

Alex was the only stunner who hadn’t posed inside the pages of lad mags – instead, she was the ex-wife of George Best. Their marriage had ended the year before the stunt.
