Iran units Middle East ablaze: Dubai’s well-known Palm Jumeirah hit by missile amid revenge assaults on US bases, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Israel after American air strikes

The famous Palm Jumeirah Fairmont Hotel in Dubai has reportedly been struck by a missile.

Videos posted on social media show the building, which is popular with tourists on fire, with plumes of smoke billowing into the sky.

It comes as explosions have rocked the United Arab Emirates as Iran launched retaliatory missile strikes following the joint US-Israel attack on Tehran earlier today.

Video footage has emerged which appears to show the moment that Iranian missiles targeted a US naval base.

Iran launched a counter-attack against the Fifth Fleet service centre in Manama, Bahrain, local media confirmed.

Footage shows a large plume of smoke rising over the city. A US official reportedly said that the blast did not result in any casualties.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu held a telephone call with Donald Trump on Saturday after the two countries launched attacks on Iran.

‘Netanyahu in conversation with US President Donald Trump,’ the Israeli leader’s office said, releasing a photograph of him speaking on the phone.

Socialite and influencer Hofit Golan has shared footage of rockets and explosions hitting Dubai to Instagram on Saturday.

She said: ‘After being debriefed from my flights as the skies closed above us. I came home to see the Palm filling up with smoke! 😱

‘I can see rockets and explosions from my balcony! Reports of other explosions being heard all over the city.

‘Please stay safe, everyone.’

Donald Trump unveiled his sweeping plan to transform Iran just as bombs rained down on the Islamic regime’s supreme leader in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The president told the Washington Post that is ultimate goal in a war with Tehran is ‘freedom’ for the Iranian people.

Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei is due to speak publicly soon, according to reports.

It follows claims in Israeli media that he had been killed when his compound in Tehran was razed to the ground by a strike.

Iranian officials earlier reported he had been moved out of the capital and was in a secure location.

The UN Security Council is to meet later today to discuss the conflict in Iran.

Emmanuel Macron had called for an urgent meeting, saying the airstrikes have ‘serious consequences’ for international peace and security.

The French President spoke separately with leaders of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan and the president of the autonomous region of Kurdistan, his office said.

Sir Keir Starmer has urged against further escalation after the UK did not participate in US-Israeli strikes on Iran.

The Prime Minister said that British planes are ‘in the sky today’ to ‘protect our people’ in the Middle East after waves of missile attacks in countries across the region.

Speaking in Downing Street today, the Prime Minister said called for de-escalation while hitting out Iran’s ‘abhorrent’ regime, saying they must never be allowed to attain a nuclear weapon.

The Foreign Office has advised British nationals in Saudi Arabia to remain at home.

In an update to its official travel advice, the Foreign Office said: ‘Due to reports of missile activity in the region, we advise all British nationals to stay at home.

‘Remain indoors in a secure location and follow instruction from the local authorities.’

British nationals in Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE and Kuwait have already been advised to ‘shelter in place’ amid ongoing missile exchanges in the region, while the Foreign Office now advises against all travel to Israel and Palestine.
